I havent really thought about this until now. Its comming due for my first oil change after having my car for a month. The car had 68k on it when i bought it. Now im not sure if the previous owner used synthetic oil for the duration of the car. I do know that it only had one owner. From what a lube center tech told me once you use synth you cant switch back because its horribly bad on the motor. As well as you should not use synthetic on higher milage cars. Does anyone know anything about this?

thats the exactly reason i do not take my car to those lube places anymore. they don't know anything about engines.

it is fine if you switch between synthetic and conventional. of course, constantly switching from one to the other is kinda stupid but its not going to make the engine blow up. just choose one and stick with it. my car has 90k on it and i've been using synthetic since i got it at 10k. i use the mobil one full synthetic extended performance

why would you mix them? don't mix them....just choose one or the other. no need to mix them and no need to keep switching

Wal-Mart carries a 5 quart jug of Mobil-1 for about $20. Other places (AutoZone, PepBoys, etc) carry a 4 quart jug for the same price. They look identical, cost about the same, but you get that extra quart at Wally World.
