I know it's off topic...but I didn't know that other countries still used carburetors in their cars. WOW. Sorry, but having been working on cars for the better part of 1.5 years it astounds me...

Back to your topic, you should be able to find a small turbo, like maybe a T25 or something, that can fit. The problem is, because you have such a small displacement engine, you need something that can easily be spun. Good luck and I will update if I can find you something!

Hey man that really hard to turbo a carb engine....what u need to do is to get an injected engine cuse the same pricwe to turbo a carb best u buy a injected engine.
I have the same engine you have and it going to be really difficult.....best bet but the mivec 1.6 or 1.6 single cam to your engine.then your best bet is to work from there.........the most you can doto a carb engine is port and polish, webber, sidedrafts, extractors.Hope I helped you........ hope you really get through......hi from trinidad....... :57:

Yes being the carby model you would need to convert to efi first. Our turbo kits will bolt directly onto your vehicle and if you wanted to you could set it up as either a suck through or push through carby setup, but honestly conversion to EFI is not scary and woudl be a far better option.

Even i HAve a 415 engine.. (1992 lancer glx) i know that going for a efi engine and then putting a turbo in is the best option... but.............. what u r saying is that.. it's possible to do a carb / turbo thingee as well???? is it???

or is there anyone here who can guide me about the... port and polish, webber, sidedrafts, extractors thingee that dookie was talking about??

Hey, how do I know what type of engine I have? It's a '98 Lancer GLXi with a 1.6 Litre, 24-valve engine...

And what are my options for upgrading it?

^^^ 1998 Lancer GLXi

that would be a chassis code CK6 right?

engine is the 6A11, which is a 1.8L 24V, not a 1.6L

if it is a CB6A, then the engine is the 6A10, which is a 1.6L 24V, these went out of production in 1995

hey guys im new on here

now ive noticed some of u are interested in turbo charging the 4G15

i have and i can tell yas straight out dont ask RPW technical information about engine ppl know so little about IE 4G15 coz they have no idea what they is really talking about

i had a chat with some1 from RPW in perth today saying there is a few turbo mirages and lancers with the 4g15 motors that have been turbo charged getting 120kw @ the fly on 12psi boost which ruffly translates to about 95kw@ the wheel over there

no offence but thats a load of crap

when i first turbo charged my mirage i was getting 95kw@w running 6psi boost with standard internals 276cc injectors (2002 TJ magna VRX injectors), standard fuel pump, standard ECU with Microtech piggy back system, 2 1/4inch straight thru exhaust and 600x300x75 front mount intercooler oh and the turbo i use is a Garret GT-28 rolling baring

and i will quite happily put up video footage and dyno sheets to prove it

now ive done alot of research into the 4g15 and this is what ive come up with

if u wat to run 6psi the mods u will need to will be as follows (stage 1)

no internals need doing

HD clutch

exhaust 2 1/4inch Straight thru

front mount min size 300 x 150 x 45

a piggy back ecu (speak to ur tuner first as he or she may be better with a particular brand)

and of course 276cc injectors will do nicely

..............................................................................................................

if u want to run between 7 to 9psi (stage 2) u will need to do these mods along with some stage 1 mods

front mount min size 400 x 200 x 55

390cc injectors (1.8ltr GSR lancer injectors)

fuel pressure regulator (personally i recomend the turbosmart FPR 800)

1.8ltr ce lancer throtle body (have it ported)

full port and polish

45deg port angeling

(still use standard head gasket and head bolts)

change to a full ECU again talk to ur turner to find out which 1 he or she prefures

as for a boost controller again its by personal preference i prefure the turbosmart dual stage controller
..............................................................................................................

if u want to run between 10 to 12psi (stage 3) this is what u will need to do again add in the mods in stage 1 and 2 that are not covered here

450cc injectors (VR4 injectors)

fuel rail (2ltr lancer rail)

Fuel pump (personally id prefure the walbro 255i)

front mount intercooler min 600 x 300 x 75

Cometic head Gasket (they dnt make them on a production line so to get 1 for a 4g15 is a custom job but well worth it)

ARP bolts (again for the 4G15 is a custom job but well worth it)

Aviation Screw clamps for I/C piping
..............................................................................................................

now for those insane little buggers out there that wanna go higher than 12psi boost u have to do this (again add in parts from stages 1 , 2 and 3 that have not been listed here)

do all your internals IE pistons, con rods etc etc

Do the DOHC conversion

upgrade the cams

3inch straight thru exhaust

re-enforce the block and head (their PSI strength is 14psi)

Gear Box (most mitis gear boxs have the same bolt up size and pattern but beware of which way the clutch depresses b4 bying the gear box as it may depress the wrong way)

Lightweight flywheel

HD cushined button clutch
..............................................................................................................

now this info is all based on the 4G15 EFI SOHC 12valve N/A motor which can be found in the 1998 to 2003 model Mirages

also please note when adjusting the timing on the 4G15 weather it be the sohc or dohc do not adjust the timing to any more that 7 coz any higher than that without the after market cams in it the car will ping like crazy and cause alot of damage

now i myself atm are currently on stage 2 and going to stage 3 coz the power output ill get at stage 3 will be more on the mark for what i need and at the same time im considering doing the DOHC conversion as well for the simple fact its a better flowing head either way ill let ya know how it all goes and as to what power output i get

most of this information has come thru my own trial and error and from other mirage owners who have done the same as i have and the rest has come from reputable car tuners and engine builders

hope this helps ya out guys

Now All in all im not Saying that RPW is a bad company im just saying that as far as their technical side to things they dnt know too much unless its common information that every1 knows about IE Evos

they do provide good parts but just make sure u know what part ya after and that u are ordering the right 1 and that its suited to the job at hand

hey i have a mirage 2003 ce model that i have straped a turbo on. you will nee another injector or chage your 4 injectors to magna vrx ones, your standard pistons will be fine no need to chage them, i have used a garret t28 and custom installed it all my self and my last dyno run it was putting out 120kw at front wheels compared to 54kw standard. i hope this helps if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

you will have to lower the comprestion replace the .4mm thick head gasket with at least a 1.4mm - 1.5mm thick head gasket. not sure if you can buy them i made mine from scratch. this will lower the compresion more then enouch to run any turbo.
