HI, I need a new car. (Every Day Drive) Choices between Eclipse GS (Inline-4) to a Eclipse GT (V6) Engine? 2006 Models.

The reason I ask is that, I can't seem to find the difference, beside the "obvious". If I were to put a turbo-kit in the inline-4 it would outperform the V6 which sequentially cost less than the STOCK V6. Any opinions on which model to buy?

Any helped???

Get the MIVEC engine!!!!
With a cold air intake, free flow exhaust ( no cat con), headers and a SAF-C III you should be able to break the 200whp barrier.

later in the year, There will be supercharger and turbo kits.

V6 is 263 out the box and 4G63Attack is right they are worse than pigs they are pigs with heavy front ends they are very sharp but they are very heavy approx 70% in the front 30% in the rear, the numbers are just off the top of my head.
I love the V6 I test drove it, if it were me I would by the V6 before I bought the 4 banger at least ya have more power to work with and not too many people will want to test you for fear of getting their reputation/ego messed up.
What I would do is take the V6 logo off then make the guys in the 350 Z's mad when they want a race:)
Now if you are thinking gas mileage you are better off with the 4 banger.

There's nothing wrong with Fords...the new Mustang GT SHOULD be around 28K but honestly, they jack the price up so you may end up paying more. 30K is WAY too much to ask for that car.

I'd buy the Mustang because it's rear wheel drive.

But, if you just want a daily driver then get the GS. It will be slow but you'll pay less (for the car and the gas) and insurance should be cheaper too.

Just my $.02

I have a Blue fully loaded 06 gt auto and I had a 2002 gt. This car is awsome and has great power. I have had Cars with V8's over 400hp and this car holds up nice. Regardless I would like to hear some more evidence that supports not getting the 6 vs the 4. Fully loaded I paid 25,650.

There is no "evidence" for or against the V6 or I4. It's a matter of preference.

Yes the GT is faster, but if you drive your car 90 miles to work everday, the gas bills will get to you. So if you like the car get the 4 cylinder.

If you want to enjoy the car and don't care how much gas will cost, get the V6.

I've driven many cars in my day (Jaguar V12, 911 C4S, BMW 525i) and I test drive an 02 GT and didn't find it that appealing for many reasons besides power.

Just my two cents.

heya,

first post here. weee (first post on any car forum also)

anyway, i actually wanted a lancer evo but only had $22k cash on me at the time(didn't want to have to deal with any sort of payments at all) & saw the eclipse' and thought i'd give em a try.
i had a friend who had one of those 3000GT's and i couldn't fit in that thing at all so i didn't have my hopes up for the 06 eclipse but honestly that thing had even more room on the inside then my old monte carlo & i felt so comfortable in it(that and it drives/handles pretty well to).
i ended up getting the GS model because of reason #1 uptop & i do lots of driving around. this car's been worth every penny i spent on it and look forward to seeing what sort of aftermarket parts come out in the future. thinking about getting that turbonator i've been hearing about for it to. any of you guys have that thing?

Holys..t, I sell these cars and I paid almost that for my base gt 6 spd. I would like to know if thats sales manager still has a job. wow.... well If you are interested in gas mileage they are only a few mpg's difference between the gs and gt your main difference is power and price, how much do you want to spend vs. how fast you want to go

you know i'm wondering the same thing now. i live in San Diego but got my 06' eclipse gs up in Salem, OR when i was visiting my parents. i was interested in those gt models but at the time the dealership only had a few 'fully loaded' gt's instock that they wanted $32k for(only $2k difference from the lancer evo's 'fully loaded' that they were selling).. so i ended up just getting a gs. this was back in august 05'. heck, if i could get a fully loaded gt one for what he paid for his i'd go trade in my gs right now and do it.

Traditionally, autos cost more than manuals because of the addition of computer modules to control shift points, etc. That, and there is more to an auto than there is in a manual. The only exception I know is the GTO, because the auto is the standard and the manual is the OPTION. Reason being, the Tremec T56 is a $4,000 transmission.
