The Mustang is more expensive in manual from some years because they use the TKO 5 speed.

Also when matching up a car to the Eclipse consider the warranty. Yes, there are some manufacturers that have a good warranty with their vehicles but not all of them :P

Very true. Most car companies now (import, not domestic) offer 6 year/60,000 mile warranties on the car, and 10/100,000 on the powertrain.

about the price of the v6gt. its around 30k after insurance and everything else, ONLY if u get the premium package. u can walk out the door paying about 26-27k for the v6 GT if u get it stock, w/o leather and other luxuries. if ur paying more then that...then damn, ur gettin ripped

Traction control is not available on the 4 Cyl. But it is standard on the V6. Not trying to offend anyone, but if you cannot handle the 4 cyl eclipse then maybe you should be driving a Honda. ;)

QUOTE(voxigenboy @ Jan 21 2006, 05:15 PM)
heya,

first post here. weee (first post on any car forum also)

anyway, i actually wanted a lancer evo but only had $22k cash on me at the time(didn't want to have to deal with any sort of payments at all) & saw the eclipse' and thought i'd give em a try.
i had a friend who had one of those 3000GT's and i couldn't fit in that thing at all so i didn't have my hopes up for the 06 eclipse but honestly that thing had even more room on the inside then my old monte carlo & i felt so comfortable in it(that and it drives/handles pretty well to).
i ended up getting the GS model because of reason #1 uptop & i do lots of driving around. this car's been worth every penny i spent on it and look forward to seeing what sort of aftermarket parts come out in the future. thinking about getting that turbonator i've been hearing about for it to. any of you guys have that thing?

Also my first post, and I just bought an 07 GS and traded in an 02 Monte Carlo SS and was concerned about room as well (I am 6'5"). Although I didnt go there to buy an EVO I DID go there to buy a 6spd GT along with an auto GS for the wife.

They didnt have a single 6spd GT on the lot so the sales dude says "have you driven the 5spd GS?". I thought what the hell and took it for a spin. As far as I am concerned it has more than enough power. My "my car is faster than your car" days are behind me so I wanted something that looked good and had a little pep to it. The only option I wanted was Sun & Sound so I got both cars for 22K each (they discounted the auto trans on the wife's car). I am ordering fog lights for it, but other than that I will leave it alone for the time being (tinted windows goes without saying).

I am thinking that unless someone feels like they need to get somewhere in a hurry the GS is more than adequate.

Just my two cents.

If I spent somewhere in the area of $30k for a new car it would probably be a new 400HP GTO.

I had the option of getting a stock GS for 25000 or a stock GT for 30000 because I have this wonderful thing called negative equity (thus the need for GAP insurance) and I have 5000 dollars worth of it...........so you GTs can talk bad about my GS all you want, but as long as you're driving a stock GT know that I could afford what you have if I weren't paying off 5000 dollars on another car. :P

I had a 2006 GS first, traded that in for the 09 GT. Car wise, best trade I ever made, I have modded my new car, and Im beating my buddies modded 06 mustang gt. If you arent into that, the gt will do nothing for you but use more gas and have a higher monthly payment. Just depends on what you are looking to use it for.
