QUOTE(Wiluven @ Nov 2 2004, 04:37 PM) Just drove an 04 Red Ralliart off the lot yesterday morning with 87 miles on it. I'm loving the car so far - I spent a good portion of the afternoon looking for some advice on mods, brands I should check out, Good ralliart forums - but I haven't found what I am looking for. I'd like to get some advice on some things to do to my car - intake, exhaust, headers, etc - that won't void the warranty. I'm new to the whole performance parts scene - I drove a '92 Isuzu Rodeo before this :) Any suggestions and links would be helpful. Congrats. I have 04 RA as well... still looking forward to my first oil change. Before thinking of mods, or even visiting mod shops, don't do "Shopping", which is a common mistake of rich kids. You have to first know what you want RA to do for you (define your Requirements), then research the consequences of your requirements. When still happy, start hunting for parts/services. Example of not a requirement: I want a fast RA. Example of a defined requirement: I want additional 2-5 WHP and additional 5 ft-lb torque. Example of $olution: http://www.ultimate-racing.com/ (a bit far from AZ) Consequences: Noise, Gas Mileage, Warranty (some dealerships will honour warranty to modifications done by them), engine Longevity, Money

I'm a noob to these forums, but if I had to say which between the two cars was more built for racing, I'd have to say its the Ralliart over the ES. Yes, the es can be modded to be every bit as fast and faster than a stock ralliart... Till you start dumping downpipes ecu's and CAI's on the ralliart also.

Hey there...Seeing as I'm from Canada, I concentrated my search North of the border, but, as long as you don't mind ordering outside o the states, the sources below may be precisely what you are looking for. My brother and I recently got into purchasing wrecked WRX's/Lancer's and are planning to do some Rally racing in the future ourselves. Seeing as we need a solid solid source for parts, here's the best sources in Canada I've found so far: http://www.rocketrally.comhttp://www.rallysport.cahttp://www.pdm-racing.comWithout question, Rocket Rally is going to be your best prep shop in Canada - particularly for Subarus(but, they do Lancer's as well). It is run by 2 time Canadian and 2004 Canadian, USA and north American Champ Pat Richard. He has access to DMS suspension and all the bits you may be after. They will even build a fully-prepped Rally car, starting at $8,000 CDN($6400 u.s.) :) Granted the above sources are more geared towards Rally racing, but, the racing guru's are without a doubt, the best source of information and products. If you find a company similar to RocketRally in the states, please let me know.

The RA already has 40 more horses and much more torque than a standard Lancer. It also has a sportier suspension, shocks, brakes and a front strut bar. The Mivec engine has tons more power potential over the ES. You say the Ralliart isn't built for power yet it was given Mitsu's racing team name (hmmm). The only advantage the ES has over the RA right now, if you are talking from a aftermarket perspective, is the amount of mods available. The RA having a brand new engine means companies are just starting to get into the making parts for it. ES's and OZ's already have plenty of aftermarket parts that will allow them to be faster than RA's, but the RA still have more potential than an ES will ever have. You want power? RRM has a stage one kit available now that adds a little over 80whp. There is also a guy in Puerto Rico that has a 500+hp RA. Sorry for the rant on my first post on this board, but I don't like missinformation. I am a regular on the Evom site, so I am in tune with all the parts out there for the RA.

There aren't a lot of aftermarket parts for the RA or ES (at least when compared to Honda vehicles).
It's easier to make the RA faster than the ES. Off the lot, the RA is a lot quicker than the ES.
If you want the ES to be fast, the only way is turbo, and the stock engine can handle about 6 psi of boost safely. That puts you up to 180 hp. If you want more power you have to rebuild the engine (new pistons and rods, at least).
The RA engine is a bit stronger than the ES engine. With a turbo kit, no engine mods, you can get about 245 hp.
www.roadracemotorsports.com They have all parts you'd ever need for the RA or the ES.
