Well, I have an 05 Lancer with Infinity Sound and the amp was located under the driver's seat. However, it may be under the passenger's seat on your car.

You should be able to see it.

Well, if you want to keep the factory stereo and CD changer, I'd remove the amp, buy an amp bypass and install a 5-channel aftermarket amp. You shouldn't need a high - low converter.

http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php?productid=5448

Good luck.

Hello,

I have a 99 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ and it came with the infinity sound system. I read the forum and I looked that I need the Mitah cable. I noticed that it has 4 RCA outs, two reds and two whites. I bought a Clarion DB355mp and it one has two RCA cables one red and one white. What should I do? I already bought the wiring harness but I do not know if this stereo that I bought will do the trick. Also should I buy the Metah Cable? Thanks for the help.

yeah dude alll you gotta do is find a deck that has a DIN cable thats has a "E-LAN data link system" the only aftermarket decks that i know of for sure are a realy good brand called eclipse. there made by a company called fujitsu-ten, they make high quality audio stuff. i know futureshop caries that brand. i got the cd7000 and it has three 5V preouts. they make your existing stereo sound wicked without replacing you entire car stereo (do it anyways). and u can still keep that factory 6 disk changer and it still have a slot for a auxillary in or a ipod adapter or sirius satalite radio. then once u have and eclipse deck go to http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=434
and buy that part that all u gotta do is swap those brakets ont he side of your old factory deck throw them on the eclipse deck and plug in 4 cords and ur good to go.

Hey all! I have a montero sport with the infinity system. I recently purchased a mitsubishi factory cd deck on ebay. Went to install it and found out that it does not have the 6 pin din but instead has a 13 pin connector. The infinity tape deck that I was replacing does have the 6 pin and the 13 pin. There is a 13 pin cable that I assume is connected to the amp, but when i plug it into the cd player I get no sound. Seems I can only get sound from the 6 pin din. Anything I can do?

Dumb question. The deck you bought on Ebay, was it an Infinity deck?

If not, it won't work. The 13 pin should be for a CD-changer. The 6-pin is for the amp.

Hope that helps.

evryone telling different kind of ways, Right Know I spent about 3 hours Trying to connect new DVD Sterio Head with MITAH on my 02 Eclipse Spyder, and you know what there is No sound at all. The only Good idea i heard was to Wireup Head Straight to The Amp Under the sit, in this case i guess you will be sure on a 100% will works or not. By the Way do anyone have Wires My color what do they need for, Many of them, But to a NEW Head Goes only 3 (Red with Black/yellow , Yellow with White/Black, and the Black witch is Ground, but with witch One) ? I fund PDF Picture of Wire system, there is no such a cord witch you can connect with GROUND one. All I'm trying to tell, for me it's looks Imposible to complite all this Wireing process without Someone who Works at the AUDIO SYSTEM SHOP. Maybe I'm so Stupid, I do Know!!!

alright, here it is. I'm a 17 yr old girl with her own 2000 mitsubishi eclipse (with infinity) and i'm sure you already know what i'm going to ask. I'm about to install my new cd player, and i've no idea how to go about doing this. I've read tons of messages from other users about this same problem (bypassing the factory amp) and I'm still a little clueless. Do i really have to run new wires to my speakers? or do i run new wires to just past my factory amp? I'd like to think that I can install my own cd player (maybe with the help of some guyfriends), but, i am just a girl. So if this isn't a hard task, i'd love a few tips, instructions, warnings etc. Otherwise, I'll get it done by someone else. *cries*

Okay, first off, you don't need to cut any wires. You don't need to bypass the factory amp.

This is what you need.

Amp integration harness (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=265-846)
A stereo with 3 pre outs

You take out the factory stereo. There is a round plug that connects to the round plug on the harness above. You connect the two RCA plugs on the harness above to two of the pre outs on the stereo. This will power the front and rear speakers. You can use the 3rd pre out to power an additional amp and subwoofer later.

That should be everything. Check in the Eclipse section for tips on remove the stereo.

Hope that helps.

mfalik,

I have seen the MITAH adapter to keep the factory amp, which I would like to do. I have a 2002 Galant LS with the Infinity system. Will using the adapter power all 7 OEM speakers, or just 4 of them? To power the tweeters in the door with only the 4 inputs, I assume that there would have to be crossovers installed somewhere either integral in the amp or in the doors but this still leaves out the center channel speaker in the dash.

I don't know about the center channel, but the tweaters should still work. On the wiring diagrams i've seen for the Lancer with tweaters, they are spliced into the front speakers.

I still haven't bit the bullet yet. I know I want to replace the factory head unit and speakers in my 01 Eclipse (with Infinity) with aftermarket Alpine/Polk. Still not sure what I want to do about the amp. I have 2 questions:

1. Does anyone know what the watts are on the amp? I'm assuming it's not a very high power amp. Is it worth keeping if I've got a head unit which puts out 18W x 4 (Alpine CDA-9856).

2. I was thinking about just going with either the METRA or MITAH cable and connecting the new head unit to the existing amp and replacing the factory speakers with Polk components (DB 6750) in front and Polk 6x9's (DB 690) in back. Does this sound like a good solution?

OK. if anyone still struggling with this....

I just completed in stalling a JENSEN MP8610BT on my 99 montero sport with infinity system. I had to get on to bluetooh bandwagon.

Result is I got it to work with one annoyance. Which I will mention at the end but here is what I did.

I haave an infinity system with factory amplifier that uses 6 pin din on my car.

I bought the Jensen HU with 3 preouts.
http://www.cardomain.com/item/JENMP8610BT?vq_id=none

I bought on interface adaptor which lets you adjust the gain level, I guess you can skip this piece. I wasn't sure if the rpeouts deliver too much power to amplifier and ruin speaker.
http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOFAI3

I bought a MITAH adaptor plus wire harness with poer wires
http://www.cardomain.com/item/PERMITAH

Connected interface adaptor to HU and Mitah to interface adaptor's output RCA jacks. There are two sets of RCA outputs from interface adapter. Adjusted gail level so that sound does't get distorted at about 80 percent.

Connected yellow(power) wire from wiring harness to radio yellow wire
connected red(ignition) wire to red from radio
connected balck to ground(chasis)

Now there were two more wires that needed to be connected.
- One bule wire from radio (manual says connect this either to power antenna or amp remote turn on)
- One blue wire from MITAH ( This is remote amplifier turn on)

On the main wiring harness there is only one blue wire.

I ended up connecting both blue from radio and blue from MITAH to the same blue wire from factory harness.

System works perfect except for one annoyance that the poer antenna gets activated every time I trun the system on even if I am playing CDs or using the bluetooth etc.

I am planning on checking if I can supply poer to amp turn on from some other place so that I might be able to get antenna to act as it should.

If anyone has ideas, please let me know.

Like vgandra, I just installed a new head unit -- however, I chose the Sony MEX-BT5000. That unit has separate amp remote (blue/white) and antenna remote (blue) outputs.

I connected the Sony's amp remote to the Mitah's blue wire, and the antenna remote to the blue wire on the harness, and everything works fine -- the antenna goes down when I put in a CD or use the Bluetooth (either for a call or streaming music -- the Sony supports the A2DP Bluetooth profile).

Because vgandra's Jensen headunit has only the one remote output, it has to be configured to put a voltage on the line whenever the headunit is turned on, so that the remote amp will be on. Of course, this means that if you attach a power antenna to that output, it will be not operate in the desired fashion -- it will always be up when the headunit is powered.

Ok so i have a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gs-t and i just put in a kenwood ddx 7017 head unit it works great and i picked up the mitah peripheral cable to connect the stock infinity amp. I connected the rca's to there designated plugs and connected the blue wire on the mitah harness to the blue/white amp lead on the headunit and when i turned everything on the head unit would just cut on and off. It just seemed like it was reseting over and over can anyone tell me why it's doing that. I tried wiring in a switch and a few other things i get like a feed back kind of sound as it's kicking on and off but that's about it any kind of advice would be really appreciated.

Ok, im glad i found this conversation.
My 01 Eclipse Gt, the amp and the head deck both infinity were taken before i bought it.
The only thing left is, the plug under the seat, and the wires to the head unit.
in the head unit plug there is only about id say 5 wires leading into the white plug..
and in the amp plug, theres about 6 with the green, purple wires all snipped and coiled up.
i bought a wiring kit, everything fits, but the only problem i have is that from the head deck to the amp plug i have no idea what to do becuase there is no wires from the dash to the amp plug.....

someone please help me, i dont want to have to go out and buy a $790 factory amp from a mistu. dealership..
