A mechanic told me the Ignition Module was under the distributor cap. I took it off but see nothing resembling the new Module I bought. Do I have to take the whole distributor off to find it? If not, where am I going wrong? Thanks.

he is correct, it is under the cap.
to simplify removal, its best to take out the distributor.

Remove the cap, pull the rotor. Remove the two screws holding the cover down over the pickups. After that's off remove the phillips head screw holding the triangular piece that the rotor slides on to. There will be a metallic 4 finned rotor with another single finned rotor underneath. Mark the rotor alignment so they go back together in the same relationship. After all this stuff is off you'll see the two pickups on the ignitor, it will have two plugs extending outside of the casting. Pull gently on the smaller plug as it attaches to the coil with three prongs. Lift out the ignitor. You can get these for about 70.00 on Ebay but I have no idea how good they are. They're not factory. A new aftermarket distributor will set you back about 200.00 on Ebay, with a warranty. Hope this helps.
