Has anyone here tried either FuelCat or EcoTek valves with their Carisma GDI (the direct injection model)?

A quick scan of the internet tells me the FuelCat is a catalytic device which makes fuel burn better, giving more power and hence better efficiency.

http://www.fuelcat.co.uk/faq.html

And the EcoTek thing physically agitates the fuel to give the same effect. Good site on that at http://freespace.virgin.net/steven.crook-dawkins...

They are pretty easy to fit, and only change the fuel so can be used with any engines.

But could they disrupt the ECU which is pretty finely tuned for the GDI engine? The EcoTek in particular introduces very small amounts of air into the fuel thus making the fuel a little bit leaner, so perhaps it might not work with a GDI?

Anyone have any info or ideas?

Edited to say I'm wondering if either or both of these could reduce or counteract the uneven running and surging of the Carisma engines when they get coked up. (sounds like i'm describing Kate Moss!)

I emailed the guys that make the ecotech valve and they recon it's useless for the gdi as the swirl they talk about is not suited to direct injection. I put a cold air feed with carbon filter box onto mine which has made a great difference and the next step is to fit one of the FSE power boost valves ( although i expect that will be the ned of any fuel efficiency...)

I recon they should all work on the 1.6, the ecoteck valve seemingly wont go on the gdi because the petrol is injected directly into the cylinder, but as far as i know the petrol and air are mixed on the 1.6 before the cylinder and so the ecotech should suit.
