ok, the story goes like this:

My 05 GG MR got keyed by a Honda Prelude hater. That SOB left a meter long deep scratch on my back trunk! I knew it wasn't just a random act because i kinda pissed him off the night before by not letting him cut in front of me and also we lived about a block away. Although i have no proof, the scratch implied a message that it was him. When i saw this scratch, i was devastated. Now, i am just hoping some fellow evo owners can give me a few pointer on how to remedy this scratch or possibly remove it.

If u find it offensive, i am sorry about that. I've tried my best to hold my anger back. Thanks for understanding.

here is a pic that i just took.(566kb jpg file)

hope this scratch can be fixed or at least reduce it to less noticeable. Any suggestions? (ps. i am a total novice here, please be a little more descriptive. Thank you)

dude thats not an easy fix it looks tooo deep but if u wana try.... get som touch up paint and cut and polish, porblem is the touch up paint never comes out the same color as the car soo your choice.... or you could ask ppl from a body shop to do it for you but it might cost $$$

Man, sorry to hear about your car. You've done a good job of holding back your anger and agression. I'd wanna drive over and give that guy a piece of my mind.

I actually had something similar to my car. Long story short I had a deep scratch in my car and I fixed it pretty easily. I have the same color car (graphite grey) and year (05), just not the Evo.

I went to the dealer parts department, gave them my VIN number, they pulled up the paint code, ordered me factory touch-up paint. It comes with paint and clear coat. It costs around $9.

I was able to fill in the deep scratch by applying several coats of touch-up paint. When the painted area level was slightly above the rest of the body, I wet-sanded the touched up area with 600 grit wet-sand paper. I did this carefully until the area was level to the touch with the rest of the trunk. There will be some slight swirls, this can be buffed out with Finish Restorer (like rubbing compound but not at gritty and harsh) or Rubbing Compound which you can get at Walmart for $5-6.

I wouldn't worry about the touch-up paint not matching. If you get it from the dealer, it should match fine. Mine did.

Since this is such a long scratch, I would try just a small portion if it to get the technique down and see if you like the results. If you don't like the results or it seems like a lot of work, take it to a body shop and they will do pretty much the same thing.

Next, you find the guy and have a talk with him. Tell him to stop being such a pu$$y, and if he's got a problem with someone, talk to them like a grown up.

Hope that helps.

Mike

My Lancer is Coronado Sand, which is kinda rare around here. I went to the dealer next door to mine, got the paint, and thought it was too dark. After I applied it and let it dry, it worked perfectly.
