The valve guide seals are worn. The exhaust is sucking oil out of the exhaust
valve guide through the worn seal ... it probably isn't even getting to the
combustion chamber. Check your plugs for fouling. You can live with the
smoke until you have the opportunity for the valve job it needs.

Hey bud the smoke could be a few things "cracked head", "valves/seals", or "rings". But if you have ok compression and don't see a large plume of smoke come out of your tailpipe as soon as you start it's probably not your rings or a cracked head. It is more than likely needing a valvejob. In any case $3000 seems a bit steep for any of the above go see another mechanic. Do not wait or you could be buying a new engine and you can bet your gonna pay 3K+. Hope this helps.

White smoke is normally from coolant in the combustio chamber and blue smoke is from oil.
