I have an O4 Outlander with 55,000 miles on it and the AC has quite working. The compressor does not engage and after a few moments the AC light on the switch starts blinking. I am thinking maybe it just needs a recharge, but it seems a bit odd since the car is only 2 years old. Anybody else had this problem?

Drag. Do you have the 60,000 mile warranty with your car? If so, you could have the dealer take care of it pronto. If not, there could be several possible diagnoses - one being a simple recharge (if that's the case, you may need to examine the system for leaks - 2 years isn't a long time)

Did you ever figure out what the solution was? I have a 2001 Eclipse that has been doing the same thing for over a year, and everyone I've taken it to is baffled.

The problem is due to the freon being low. But what you need to find out is where did it leak out.
