i have a 99 anniversary edition eclipse with the stock alarm system. i accidently made it go off by reaching inside the doors with the windows down and grabbing the door handle to open( i guess it was locked) because now my alarm goes off everytime i open my doors. it will eventually cycle itself off and all my so i have took out the horn and anti-theft fuses because of the noise & my neighbors are tired of hearing my alarm go off everytime i get in my car. so now that the fuses are out the lights just blink frantically until it cycles off. at first, anytime i locked my doors manually or with the key-less remote, a green light would appear on the dash that says"security", now i cant get that light at all. can someone please tell me what the hell to do or hat the hell is wrong? plzz help???????

their should be a lil black button but your left foot by your fuses. Hold that in while you try and start the car and that deactivates the alarm

to deactivate the alarm you must shut off the car(if it is running) shut the door and open it manually with a key this will trigger the alarm to stop. and you probably cant get the light on because you have removed one of the fuses

I also have a problem with my alarm in my 98 GS-T.. it goes off randomly, sometimes weeks inbetween, other times two times a night so my neighbours freak out..

I first tried to take out the alarm fuse, but the alarm went off when i tested, so i had to take out the horn fuse to keep it quiet at nighttime.. anyhow, this morning about a month later, the damn thing started squealing again, even with my horn fuse out, the alarm went off WITH the horns sounding..

Im wondering, is there anyone here that actually have tried to somehow disconnect this alarm crap successfully? or eventually fix this problem?

Now my car is standing unlocked outside every night, because locking it makes the alarm go off.. wow, what a nice anti theft system :gunsmilie:

I have a 99gs 10th anniversary also and have had this problem but the weird thing is that one day it was going off and while it was going off i put the key inside the trunk lock and the alarm stopped, it did that a few weeks later and again i inserted the key into the trunk lock and turned it and the alarm stopped ringing, its been working ever since.

I also forgot to mention that I have the same problem because I had to install the cheap plastic door openers and I still got work to do, but anyway mines goes off (yea yea I know because I did not do a good job and Mitsu ain't cheap) if I unlock the drivers side by mistake the dang thing goes off! I gotta go to the passenger side and stick the key in and lock it then unlock it (same side) it stops the alarm.
In fact the passenger side is the only side I can unlock to get in my little put-put :)

Same deal here with me gang. I've got a 99 Eclipse GS and for the past two days, the alarm keeps going off as well. Talk about a crappy start to an early morning. :bwekk:

I also removed the fuses and still no luck...alarm is still going off with the horn even with the fuses out. I haven't tried to disarm it with the keys manually just yet.

Someone mentioned a "little black button" by the fuse box on the lower left of the driver section...any further information on what the button looks like or just where it is? I look all over for this magic "kill switch" and had no luck finding anything. :(

Your alarm triggers have fallen off most likely. Mine did this as well and I fixed it in 10 seconds while fixing my window. take the panel off of the door and look at the back of the door handle. There should be a white plastic cup-like piece covering the lock with two wires in the back. Around this piece there should be a metal U clip. Make sure this in place. It can fall slightly out of place and you'll barely notice it. The back of the lock must be set into the plastic cup perfectly in the slot inside of it. This turns causing your alarm to disengage.

That's correct... The piece on my passenger door was broken, so i just unplugged it. Driver's door works though.

I have the same issue with my 98 Eclipse Spyder GS. The alarm goes off in the middle of the night or whenever it feels like with headlights flashing and horn going bang bang bang..... My car is out in the parking lot unlocked most of the time to avoid it going off.

Just a little back ground, I lost the factory keyless entry. So, I had to get the aftermarket keyless entry and remote start for the car. A piece of the broken key is stuck in my driver side door remains stuck in there after a number of attempts by regular mechanics to pull it out. :offtopic:

Dealer says the keyless entry is after market and would love to charge me $106 an hour on labor just to figure out the issue and God knows how much they will charge to fix it.

The Aftermarket guy who installed it tells me that only the dealer can fix it as they are fsmiliar with the internal wiring.

I have been ripped off quite a few times due to my ignorance and lack of time to research the issues. But long story short, I do NOT want to spend anymore on the car. So I would like to disarm/disconnect the panic functionality completely.

Please list step by step instructions to achieve this as I have recently learned where to put the windshield liquid...so you can imagine... :P

thanks in advance :liebe011: .
