WOW...all this over someone asking if it was possible to disable the DRL's...I say it's his car, he paid for it so he can do whatever he wants to it.

And I don't agree with giving anyone false information just because you think the guy is a jerk-off for talking about turbos...I've been a tech for 15 years and have dealt with all sorts of characters, both good and bad...but talking about turbos doesn't justify giving false information to a customer. At the very least it's un-professional, at worst you could cause someones injury or death.

thank you, how would you feel uti, if an independent laborer came to you asking for information about brakes. You tell him the wrong info. He goes and fixes a mother's minivan with the FALSE knowledge that YOU gave him. 1 week later that mother and her kids gets into a horrible accident because their brakes failed to work correctly... do you feel good about yourself and the false information then???

btw drunkman or whatever your name is, check this out

http://dms.dot.gov/search/searchResultsAdv...chType=document

all complaints about drl. The DOT wanted to make DRL illegal because of glare here in the US, because we have enough daytime. We aren't talking about countries where they only have a few hours of daytime and the rest is dark as hell.

Ha, my misinformation wasn't about turbos. Mine was a guy asking me how to fix a '97 Altima because he didn't know how. He was a mechanic at an independent shop and wanted me to help him make money.

I didn't say you gave him false information about turbos...I gathered from your post that you thought he was a jerk-of because as you put it he was all "turbo this and turbo that". That's not the point.

You said in your post, and I quote: "I have had independent guys ask me questions when they come in and pick up parts at my work and I give them all the wrong info because I don't want them taking work away from me and my coworkers."

Just because someone works at an independent shop doesn't make him stupid...he is trying to make a living same as you. They obviously are supporting your dealership by buying parts from you and just because one of them has a question about something doesn't make them a retard. You're telling me you've never asked a question throughout your career? As a tech myself, I'll be first in line to call you a liar.

Look, if you don't wat to talk to the "independent guy" because you're afraid he's going to take all your business, then don't talk to him. But don't give him false information about fixing some innocent persons car. Ultimately the information you give him could hurt someone.

I ask fellow employees and they don't mind helping because I give them the same info. I am also not calling independent guys idiots, I am saying we have the same two or three guys who come in and ask us questions about every Nissan they get in to them. Usually it's "How do you remove the head on a '99 Sentra". My first response is "go look it up in a service manual". If they answer with "We don't have any" then my next answer will be "well then I can't help you". I understand they are trying to make a living, but when I know they have Shopkey and don't take advantage of it because they are trying to do it quicker than it says, it's a problem.
