They are doing construction on my road and have been for the past couple months... its been impossible to keep my car clean but I have made best efforts... I bought my car on the first of Dec. of 05 and already my breaks a sqweaking when I come to a stop... is there anyway this can be fixed?

I'm assuming its just dust on the rotors or something but it DEF. should not be happening...

I just got it washed the other day and assumed that would fix it up and stop the sqweaking but .. wrong

any advice?

Well, squeaking brakes are caused by a number of things, some of which you already mentioned. Dirt, debris, moisture, wear, etc are all contributing factors. I did my brakes on my car 3,000 miles ago and they occasionally squeak, but it's for those reasons. There's a possibility you have picked up a small pebble and it's rubbing on your rotors. Are they clean-looking? Are there any lines on them?

I had problems on my 98 GTS with intermittent squeaking from the brakes when coming to a stop and also have noticed the same thing, but not nearly as bad, on my 2006 GT. I resolved the problem on the 98 by switching the pads to Akebono ceramic pads. Squeaking was gone and I also noticed that there was considerably less dust buildup.

Same problem here, there is a theory that when you get a brand new car and are constantly coming to quick stops the brakes are most likely to start screeching but do not know just a theory!

hmmm I haven't looked close enough at the rotars to see if there are any noticable lines but I will take a look...

I may take the car in to the dealer and have them give it a look over, I have been noticing weird things about the breaking system, such as pedal pressure and stopping distance on top of the sqweaking... I think my problem may be the result of or could be causing other abnormal issues

i have same problem. i live in the city with a lot of stop and go. My brakes started to squeking after about 1200 miles. Could it be a common deffective pads from mitsubishi? like that rim softness problem with previous gen. if so, how is manufacturer forced to do a recall?

If enough people call and complain or they have enough that come in and want the problem repaired, they issue a technical service bulletin. If it still is a problem, they usually have recalls issued, but that takes a while.

Good to know I am not the only one with this problem either! XD

I believe it's some factory flaw by Mitsubishi... I mean, the car is brand new and already the brakes started squeaking! I owned a Honda Civic 00 before, and it didn't give me any trouble until it was 3 years old.

Same with that squeaking window... and today, the engine panel light turned on! What is going on?? The car barely surpassed the 3000 km... and already acts like an old one >.<

I know, but the more reason to give it better brakes, no?
Anyway, I'll leave my car this friday with the dealer so they can give it service...

Depends on what model you have. A lot of car companies use brakes that are universal between a few different car lines. But you have to remember, when trying to stop a 4000LB. car, it might squeak a little bit.

I agree.. but it doesn't squeak a little bit... XD it squeaks a LOT.
So yeah, my dealer said brakes need some cleaning. Maybe I'll change the brakes someday for better ones that don't squeak when brand new.

Most brakes squeak when brand new because there is a break-in period. Cleaning makes sense because they get caked with dirt.

I noticed something else with my breaks recently that has me a bit concerned, if in park or sitting still period, you apply more pressure on the pedal than is normally needed, my breaks make a little kinda *ping* sound and I can physically feel a change in pressure for a split second when that sound is made.... what could this be...
