You need a wire harness adapter. Best Buy or Circuit City has them.

I hope someone can help.

I have the wire harness adapter all set up (lancer 04 to sony), but before I solder and then tape it, I wanted to test it.

Well, the wires must of touched against another since the dome light on top went out, the power door locks don't work, and the radio/clock doesn't work too. If I start the car, only the power locks work. Any help?


I checked all the fuses inside the car under the steering wheel (but both radio and light have no fuse). So I went to look into the engine compartment fuse box, but there the radio and light has some sort of yellow plastic housing which is preventing me from checking/replacing if it indeed needs replacement. Before I break the plastic out of frustration, any advice or tips or even if I'm going about this wrong?

Did you buy a factory wiring harness adapter?

Where did you attach the ground?

Finally got the yellow housing off!

Yes, I bought the wiring harness adapter (from crutchfield) for my car - which made everything sooo easy. However, I did not ground it when trying to "test" if it all worked before I solder and tape up the connection and a short must of occurred since the wire connections (between the two harness adapters) were all exposed (a dumb move on my part, I'll admit).

Removing the car's ecm box helped get one side of the yellow housing unclipped and then eventually got the other side..then finally unclipping the two fuses within this housing I was able to see if either fuse blew. You can bet the yellow housing is going straight to the trash - does anyone know why in the world Mitsubishi even has that? and it's purpose other than make a simple fuse check/replacement a twenty minute headache?

Once I removed the broken radio fuse, and reinserted the light fuse, the dome light, power locks(including using the remote), and clock came back on. I'm using a extra 20A fuse currently for the radio. Buying the correct 10A tomorrow.

Thanks though

As for grounding, I currently have it attached to some steel panel towards the back.

Hi inlancer,
Where did you get the wiring scheme of the standard Mitsubishi radio? Did you figure it out yourself using a voltage meter or is it somewhere in the car user's manual? I couldn't find anything about it in mine, and I don't feel like buying the whole repair manual just for this goal.

Why not just spend $8 and get a wire harness adapter? That way you don't have to cut up the factory harness. All you have to do is match wires from your aftermarket radio to the wires on the harness adapter.

And I have the electrical diagram for the stereo.

Hey,

I'm not sure if anyone has had this problem but the only wiring harness i can find at the shops is just stated as for a "late model mistsubishi". Does anyone know if that will compatible with a 97 CE lancer?

Hi guys,
I got the wire harness and looking at it and wire harness for my player I got a question. Almost all the wires are marked in the same way (speakers, power, etc.) but there are three that I cannot figure out how to correctly connect:
On the harness for stock (i.e. original Mitsubishi) player I have the following:
1. Solid blue that says "Power antenna"
2. Solid orange that says "Dash light (illumination)"
3. Orange/White that says "Dimmer"
On the wire harness for my Kenwood player:
1. Solid blue "Motor antenna control wire"
2. Blue/White "Power control wire"
3. Orange/White "Dimmer control wire"

I assume I need to connect blue wires together but what should I do with two other wires? In case it matters, the player I am using is Kenwood KDC-MPV619.

ya but u have to be real carful because i knew pretty much what i was doing and when i removed the dash i guess i messed up the air/ heat so everytime it gets cold out i have to go to the dealer and they fool around under the steering wheel and switch it back to heat cuz i messed it up so i can have either cold or hot not bolth witch kinda sucks but hell it beats paying 580 to get it fixed hahahahaha

Sounds like a screwed up blender door. I'd like to know how you screwed that up. Unless you screwed up the heater control.

Is it possible to remove the CD player from the 08 Lancer and replace it with an aftermarket deck? It looks like its built in, but I'm a noob so I cant be sure, heh.

Hi I am trying to install an aftermarket stereo and noticed theres the antenna, the wiring harness and also theres another wire, i belive for the audio since it comes with a stock amplifier....would can i do with that extra wire? because when i connect it it turns on but theres no audio since theres no where to connect the extra wire to the jvc head unit....

I have a lancer 07 GLX and I am not in north america so there is no way to buy an adapter harness.

I guess, I have to cut the original socket and match the wires. Where can I get the color code for the stereo wiring on this car?

I have a 02 Lancer oz and my factory cd player is bad and i can only find a 04 lancer factory cd player. I know the dash is the same and so are the face of the cd players but are the harness the same? Will my harness plug into the 04 cd player? Any help would be great.

Thank you, these steps were simple and absolutely correct. I just got a used 05 Lancer ES (Will trade in a year for an 09 ES or GTS, not sure yet, maybe Ralliart if it's out) and have a plug-n-play Sirius unit. The FM broadcast just wasn't easy to find a station that was clear around the Phoenix metro area, so I purchased an FM direct modulator. These steps worked perfectly for me, can't thank you enough. Now have crystal clear satellite radio.
