I was trying to get my hands on one of those beautiful Giovanna rims, the Brake model to be more specific in machined metal color.

After researching thoroughly about that model, a friend of my dad's who was helping me get that model told me that the rims I wanted had a factory problem... apparently, the rim could crack from the edges, and this isn't very secure. I dunno why Giovanna is still selling these wheels, but some dealers even sell them at very cheap prices to get rid of them quickly (not telling you of course of the factory defect).

I was wondering if all Giovanna wheels come with factory defects and if I should buy another model or just choose another brand. I am so frustrated, since I think that model was perfect for my Eclipse 06! :crying:

Hope you can suggest me some similar models, thanks!

If they are a two-piece rim, that's typical. Since it's joining of two different pieces, they is bound to be some movement in them.

I am not sure if they are two piece rims, I haven't seen them myself. But it pretty much sucks, it's Giovanna we are talking about... meh, I think I'll have to buy another brand anyway.

Yeah, I just looked, it is a 2-piece rim. Plus, the rims are HEAVY. I know it's Giovanna, but I honestly don't like chrome on imports nor do I like heavy rims on my car.

I wasn't going for the chromed ones, but the machined metal finish ones... anyway, do you recommend ADR instead? I was browsing through their site the other day, and I like the M-Sport ones... hope you can give me some suggestions since now I don't know what to buy now... T_T *is frustrated*

ADR makes nice rims...

I don't know what color combination you want or if you want a chrome or machined lip. I will list a few rims that might suit your taste, go on http://www.tirerack.com and look them up.

These will all work with your stock tires:

ASA JH8 18x8.5"
AT Italia Inox 18x8"
Kazera KZ-A 18x8.5"
Kazera KZ-B 18x7.5"
Motegi Track Touge 18x7.5"
Ro_Ja R2-5 18x8"
SSR GT7-H 18x8"

Mind you, I am a HUGE fan of black rims with a chrome lip on the color you have. Take a look, tell me what you think, and ask me any questions you want (I used to work for a rim place called Discount Tire by me) and I can answer anything you want.

Take care.

Hahah yeah, I also like how the black rims with metal lip look on this car color... O_O

But I am a little worried the design of the rim won't be fully appreciated cos is black. My fave of your list was the Kazera KZ-A and the Motegi ones... very pretty!

I was thinking on purchasing from ADR the M-Classic rims in gloss black... those might look very nice as well. I checked them out on ebay, and price seems fair enough XDD <-- is a cheap girl.

or perhaps these ADR Victory in machined metal finish too,

I dunno... decisions, decisions... ^_^

The first ones are awesome looking. Best part is, you can use your stock tires with no problem.

I know you want to have very little unsprung weight, but at 7lbs. apiece for 18" rims is a little too light and you run into cracking issues.
