I am just wondering if anyone has many problems with their local law enforcement in their town and their new car? Since I bought the 06 Eclipse I have noticed a couple of cops following me around and I get some dirty looks but nothing too much beyond that. I installed a radar detector which has helped a lot too. I just get the feeling they want to pull me over...

I know there is a "tickets" post here already where people have talked about tickets they have received but I'm just curious if anyone here is experiencing ongoing non-stop trouble from police?

i think they usually go by if it looks like a speeder they tend to watch it. best thing to do is make 3 right or 3 left turns and if they continue to follow report them for harassment ;)

This is true. I never believed it until I have tried it.

I know this for a fact cause when i got my speeding ticket and went to some training about it to help get it off my record, people there said they were not speeding that the cop had pulled them over cause they thought they were and they were driving like a firebird or some other kind of "muscle" car or sports car. not to get off the subject but thats a good reason to get the kill switch for the auto lights ;)

So if I make 3 left/right turns and they continue to follow that is considered harrassment? Does this apply only to certain states?

So I call the cops on the cop? :P Pretty funny!

no if that happens pull over and get out of your car and wave them down and get there tag numbers :) and then go to the police station and report them for harassment. doubt they will follow after the second right/left turn.

but by doing the whole three left turns if you seem conspicuous they have the right to pull you over on suspicious behavior. The best thing is just to ride it out.

I am nearing a mid life crisis with pullovers. 34 pullovers, IL, GA, FL.
But you have to learn and know the law, I have two tickets on record and no lawyers

Drive like a putz all the time and you will have police waiting for you.

A cop stopped me, but because I kinda skipped a red light... XD my own fault.

What I have noticed is not cops following me, but dudes with less powerful cars trying to "race" against me.
It is pretty funny actually, I am all calm and relaxed minding my own business, and then some guy suddenly appears with his focus/civic/volkswagen (omg, VW dudes make me laugh XD, their bora/jettas are SO intimidating) and then try to act all tough at the red lights. Very funny.

My sister also noticed that when she once had to drive my Eclipse. She was like "hey, is it me or people want to race your car everytime they see it?"

This only applies to compact cars... I doubt a Porsche would wanna race me XD hahaha!

Same here, I am starting to get annoyed with the looks/questions as well. I even stated that in one of my earlier posts. The most annoying question: "Can I check out the inside"

they can do that you are correct but you can report them for harassment as well. 3 consecutive (not sure about spelling) right or left turns meens they are following you. now if they had a reason they would have pulled you over after the second. only reason i know this is i do it on most ocasions and usually they turn the other way after the second turn.
