Alright, so the new 07 Eclipse spyder is coming out soon. I am just curious what everyone here thinks about it? Do you like it or not? Here is a video for the curious...

2007 Eclipse Spyder Video

Personally, I think it looks really weird and odd. It seems like the back end of the car just does not look right as a convertible. I am curious to see how well it sells.

BTW - I know I made a mistake and referred to the Spyder as 2006 instead of 2007 in the topic name and poll question. Sorry! I have the bad habit of typing 2006 lately for obvious reasons :P

I think the convertible top ruins the beautiful line of the car. The hardtop just flows so nicely with the car. I don't like how the back looks either. looks like someone cut off the top of one fine booty!

I'm not a fan, but then again, I could care less about convertibles. The Spyder kind of cuts off the curves that I like about the 4G Eclipse. I thought the placement of the sub between the back seats was interesting, though... One problem with that video: they don't show it with the top up! That'd matter a lot in my overall decision.

That's how I felt about the Z3 coupe. Now that the Z4 is coming out, it looks a lot better as a coupe.

Where's the "Hell yeah!" option on the vote? :P

I got my 4G GT M/T (oi! Anacronym overload!) last June. I figured they would be coming out with the Spyder. But it was pretty easy for me. I just hushed up knowing that my wife really liked the '96 Spyder, and she likes 'verts in general. So I go my GT, and now all I have to do is take her to a dealership and show her one in Green and we'll have a Spyder too.

I agree with this too, the 4G Eclipse wasn't really designed to be a spyder convertible... from all the Spyder pics I saw, none of them convinced me. The hardtop looks way better, the lines of the car are nice and smooth how they are. The spyder just "breaks" with that beautiful frame.

its hands down the best ragtop mitsus ever sold.

style not withstanding (which I DO like a lot), its one heckuva well engineered car.
