no, they slow you down really bad(ultra-heavy), however, i have heard that they help handling.

lol body kits aren't heavy. they will slow your car down somewhat though due to the added wind resistance. the added wind resistance is also what makes your car handle better. now, the improved handling won't really be much of a factor for you because Eclipses' handling sucks so bad to begin with and it's FWD. There is no legitamate reason to put a wide body kit on a street car other than purely cosmetic ones. Whatever little bit of performance the body kit will provide is at high speeds (much higher than what you drive on the streets). The only other imagineable reason to put a body kit on a street car is so that you can be pissed off all the time when you constantly chip and break pieces off of it from curbs, speedbumps, potholes, etc.

the most you will get from a wide body is a better downforce on your car...other than that they reallly are a lot heavier than any normal kit due to the replacement of bigger finders and bumpers ect...but if its free its worth it

wide body kits are much heavier than a normal body kit, and they produce alot more drag. so all they do is slow you down.

They also provide more clearence for wider wheels and tires that would otherwise stick out of the fenders. That and down force are the only reasons that I can think of for having one, unless you think it looks good.
