Saw a BMW 535d (actually below 3000cc) today and boy, did that thing move!
272bhp and a monumental 413ft/lbs of torque from an oil-burner?
Sheesh!

I could not believe the 'd' on the back of that thing!

Diesel are ok but the M3 tops them all especially with the SMG and a turbo such a fast car

SMG's are garbage...I work for BMW and they are slow. Second, I hope you mean an aftermarket turbo seeing as how they don't come stock with one...

First of all, diesels are known for more torque because of the high compression ratios and the way the engines are set up, this is why they are used for heavy-duty trucks and semis.

Second, an oil-burner? Unless it's a two-stroke, like a Detroit Diesel, it won't burn oil. In a two-stroke, the cylinders have sleeves, and in the middle is an air intake that blends a small amount of oil with the air and fuel. Because it's only two-strokes instead of a standard four-stroke engine, the intake and compression are on the same stroke, and the power and exhaust are on the same stroke.
