most stock v6's will beat a stock 4 banger... thats what the 2 extra cylinders are there for... speed

going by what soapy said basically then a 07 kia would be able to beat the 95 talon... lol... i think not

You said a kia. not a four cylinder kia. And by the way the 07 optima will have an even more powerful engine, and looks like it will actually be a visually appealing car. Check the back cover of the current car and driver mag on the shelves.

So you're telling me that the extra 2 cylinders added to the Kia OPTIMA were for speed? Haha...last time I checked that car is a family/entry luxury sedan and NOT for speed. I doubt Hyundai Motor Co. had that in mind when they built it.

In all seriousness...either way you look at it...you can make ANY engine have power. It just takes money.

That's why it was moved to the Racing Forum.

Sad part is, I4 Hyundai engine in the 4 cyl. Tiburon, Elantra, and Spectra actually is a decent engine. It has a ton of parts for it already.

Can't handle it so you throw it at me? :P

I was wondering why I JUST noticed this thread...

anywho. I would say. Don't race 16 second cars. If you do, take it to the track, and even then, if your racing 16 second cars, it WILL come down to driver. Because at that rate of acceleration there is plenty of time to reach over, push in the cigarette lighter, wait for it to get hot, then pull it out, then drop it on your lap, which may have an adverse affect on your driving ability. (ie: plenty of opportunity to have one driver be better than the other one.) hell, a bad launch in one of those cars, and it will probably loose a 1/2 second or more in the 1/4 mile just for the fact that it's out of it's power band and will have to struggle to get back into it.

A four door family car is meant to be just that. same with an economy model eclipse. I'm sorry if that hurts anyones feelings. I really am.

Can a 420 be made fast. sure, but if your yanking out the internals for a full build up, why not just start with a 8.3 liter viper engine.

Oh, and my personal favorite. there both FWD. like I said, anyone could spin the tires on these cars at the launch,a nd that would be the end of the race. an agonizingly long 16 second race.

Good luck.

That's what I was thinking. Some people are disillusioned by a car that they own. Because it has a feeling of speed and they own it, They think its the greatest invention since peanut chews. The truth is 420a powered dsm's were mass factory produced slowness. Honest and rational Na 2nd generation dsm owners have the balls to admit that fact and work hard on making their car into a sleeper.

well i believe that if you buy a 3 thousand dollar gs then spend 2-4 grand on turbo/mods. Run it at 8-10 psi's and you have yourself a gst. for about the same price as its goin to cost. And i don't have a gs or a tsi

No. And here is why. 8-10 psi is too much for a stock 420a. 2-4 grand won't be enough money for a turbo kit plus the work that needs to be done for the engine to withstand 8-10 psi.

lol... see, anyone who has a cold-air intake is automatically qualified to be in the elite of car buff-ness. it's really a very intense test, though, so be careful. some wil never make it out alive.

you have a 16 DOHC which, if i remember correctly means "a whale's vagina" although i could be wrong... scholars maintain that the translation was lost centuries ago.

your car is built with little elves who dress in pearlescent red and they live on the south pole (labor and land on the north pole have sky-rocketed lately because santa has been pushing his new vacation paradise market and tourism has soared). the little red elves on the south pole build cars with magical fairy dust (sometimes called PCP) and lots and lots of alcohol. sometimes, they put crazy little hair dryers on their engines, but they didn't do it with yours. it's not that they forgot, though, they just didn't like you

Negative, ghostrider!!!
a 420a has, for one thing, an aluminum block. the 4g63t has an iron block. the 420s is never going to be capable of making more than a few hundred horsepower. the 4g63t has already been made to have upwards of 1200hp. the 420a is really, brutally honestly, a crappy engine. i know it sucks, but that's life. not all cars are meant to be fast. otherwise, lots of people would die and we'd already be out of oil on this planet. also, it takes money, time, and skill to build and drive a fast car. fast cars simply cost more than cheap ones. i know it's every ricer's dream to build a ferrari-killer for $50, some NAWS!!!!, and a busted floor-board, but i'm sorry it just won't happen.

lol... oddly enough, i was cruising along one day and some jackass in one of those was determined to race me. normally, since i was on open-highway with no traffic, almost a hundred miles from the nearest town, i would have opened it up really quick just to get him to back down, but he was driving with 2 little kids in the back seat, not even in seat belts. anyways, he kept doing the little ricer "i wanna race" thing where they slow down behind you the take off in front of you, ad nauseum. the point of my story is that i was really surprised how well that thing actually accelerated from 85mph (which i had my cruise control set at). I mean, he wasn't going to be much of a challenge, but it beat the hell outa most little ricer garbage cars. lol, not that my car isn't ricer garbage... but you get the picture.

it would be nice, i used to love that car,
i mean , it would spin the tires going to 2 3 and 4 if you did it right, and it had a real agressive sound..

yeah, the quad 4 was a beast. the problem with it is that it blows head gaskets and cracks heads left and right. btw, i would take an eclipse turbo in that thing any day. I already beat my 1g gst with it.

Oh my goodness.

I less than three this section of the forums.

you did manage to get a few details mixed up, though.

cars in the south pole that wind up as rice rockets are not built with fairy dust. They are built with fairy farts and moon beams.

The cold air intakes are built with the fairy dust.

other than that... a fast car can be made with three simple ingredients. a leaf-blower, NAWS, and one of those elves throwing the gas up the 5" fart can, back into the cylinders, and reacting with the extra air and nitrous.

Oh, and at least you guys got t-25s. try a 9b, and then we'll talk about mitsu's turbo selection prowess.
