Hi all, Currently my set of wheels is a Semi-okay Aussie 1992 mitsubishi nimbus uf automatic, ~180 000 km.

I was just wondering some advice on servicing: What sort of Oil would you guys reccommend. Also how do you change the spark plugs - they seem to be embedded way down deep... attach a long reach socket and I'm scared they will fall off and drop into the engine cylinder head... any techniques?

Could I just have some advice on changing the oil and filter and general lube... I'm kindof new to car mechanics, although I've worked quite a bit on 2 Stroke Motorbikes and Lawnmowers etc etc in the past. Does anyone know exactly where the drain plug is? Also, is it a good policy to replace the sump plug washer?

What about brake adjustment ... what would be necessary inspection at regular intervals... say 5000km with Oil Change?

Thanks heaps in Advance, as I said I'm sorta new to car servicing... just getting some advice.

I have a special magnetic spark plug socket I use for the job, but before that I used a normal plug socket, then a piece of rubber tube to push over the termiknal to lift it out. It is a bit tricky, but can be done.

Replace sump washer every time, just not worth the aggrevation of having to do it later ! Sump plug normally bottom of engine sump, at the back.

I use a good quality synthetic oil in mine, but I would use the same as previous owners have, as changing from one type to another can cause problems after a lot of miles. If you're not sure, go for a semi-synthetic.

Depending on driving style, every 10000km would be fine for brake check. If auto, and you drive fairly fast, then maybe every 5000km for a de-dust would be good.

Hope this helps.

Colin.

Cheers mate, great help :)

Just one more thing for anyone - How the heck do you open up the air Filter cover? It seems jammed in between the fuse housing and the air hose to the Intake.... Does something need to be removed?

Cheers
Alex

Take off the pipe from the air box to the throttle body. There are 2 clips on the wing side, it then hinges open. A bit fiddly, but not impossible !

Regards

Colin
