I am a proud, new owner of a 2006 Outlander GLS AWD. I love the ride quality in this vehicle, very smooth!! On the GLS models cruise control is aparently not an available option (even though it's listed in the brochure as an available option). I asked at the local dealership where I bought the car about adding cruise and they said it is not possible because the GLS models are not wired for it !?! Can anyone confirm this? When I take a look at the wheel, below at the bottom there seems to be a cover that looks like it snaps out - in place of the cruise control switch. I'm thinking it can have it installed, considering that all the american (even the bottom of the heap LS 2WD) models have it! If anyone has any insight that would be great, I will be doing some long highway stretches with this vehicle and cruise control sure would be a nice option.

My dealer retro-fitted a non-Mitsu cruise control to my 2004 Outie, and it works fine; it's on an extra stalk, and is a bit basic, but makes those long cruises a snap!

So the GLS can have cruise control installed? In other words, it's already prewired and ready to go?

I'm pretty sure even if it is not pre-wired you can buy a basic aftermarket kit and install it. Try J.C. Whitney or some place similar if you find out you are not pre wired...though it should be.
