you know...i wasn't even going to grace this thread with a response.... but since you had to go there, i just wanted to let you know how much it truly hurts to have to cry myself to sleep tonight knowing that you're right.....dammit, FWD sucks.

as for the moron who claims to have beaten the viper with a back-pain-inducing eclipse, go see a chiropractor, then go ahead and drive your back-pain-inducing eclipse to the nearest police station and explain to them how you were racing on the streets that the DOT is kind enough to have built for public use. then tell them that you beat a viper, they'll just laugh at you and let you go, cuz they'll immediately realize how full of **** you really are!

ps. here's a pink elephant to ease the pain

pps. now, notice that that really isn't a pink elephant. that's what's called a lie. but i suppse you know about those already

Well, this guy also claimed that he had his Eclipse professionally sooped up to 600 WHP.

In the famous words of TT, "It's like gold plating a turd!"

For the amount of money it would cost to do that to an Eclipse, you could probably buy a used Viper.

I used to bomb around in a front wheel drive car. I know it sucks.

then I realized that I needed a better car to "compinsate" for other things, otherwise fwd would have been fine... :P

umm....no offense but with the right stuff......FWD is good. I would much rather have a FWD than RWD, cuz most roads arnt a straight lines.....although id like a AWD over all of them

Rear wheel drive was not made purely for straight roads. With an experienced and confident driver, rear wheel drive is prefered by lots of drivers for twisties. Front wheel drive understeer makes me want to crap myself sometimes. Some people consider rear wheel drive the definition of a sports car. You are right that Fwd can be good in some cars. It comes down to how the car was made to perform. My eclipse is slightly quicker in a straight line than my sentra, and can be modded to be much faster in a straight line then my sentra ever will. But hands down in corners my sentra will destroy my eclipse. They share the same fwd brotherhood but were built for different purposes.

think of this how many professional Race teams run RWD set up to race and how many are FWD cars that are racing. Professional i meant professional not street racers or ricer rockets

i really did though. my car has 630 hp. i took it to the track and they told me it's so fast i need a roll cage. i rece it on the street alot, beating these corvettes, lambos, and f-50's with ease. my car pulls really hard. i raced a hayabusa once and i raped him.

rear wheel drive with a competent driver is usually quicker in the turns.

every car has a certain amount of grab it can muster. this includes accelerating, braking, and turning, and most of the time, combinations of all of the above.

the main contributor to this is your tires.

typically 60% of the braking is done on the front tires, all of the turning.

now asking the front wheels to power the car is just asking to much, in my opinion.

you just typically have more grab avalible and a better skid pad test with a rear wheel drive car.

Most true sports cars are rear wheel drive for a reason, not an accident.

Granted, given enough money and knowledge, any car can preform really well.

AWD is also not god's gift to pavement in every situation.
