I went to my car this morning, and the inside was all wet! The control button for the sunroof was all wet around it, and dripping all over the car. I have the eclipse 06 gt. I took it to the dealer, and they told me it is a defect on the new eclipse, and that they didn't even know how to fix the problem yet. My motor on my sunroof is ruined, they had to order a new part. And, I'm going to insist that the fabric is replaced, there will for sure be water stains, and an unpleasant smell when it gets hot. Apparently I'm not the first one with this problem. Has anybody else out there encountered this? This just sucks.

The area surrounding the button was soaking wet, and by the end of the day, there was water leaking in around the airbag to the left of the windshield. The dealer said it's the sunroof that is leaking, and it's not the two hoses that are supposed to drain out the water. They have no idea where the leak is coming from, nice. The mechanic pointed to a blue one exactly like mine, and said that car was having the same exact problem. He said they were waiting to hear back from Mitsubishi, I'll bet it will end up being a recall on the car because he said a lot of people were having the problem. They are going to have to replace that fabric too because you know it's going to smell nasty in there when it gets really hot out. For what I'm paying on that car, and I know you are paying the same, they better fix it. That GT model isn't cheap that's for sure. So, now I'm waiting for a new sunroof motor, because the water fryed mine out. But, putting in a new motor isn't going to fix the leak ya know? So, I have electrical tape surrounding the edges of my sunroof so there's at least no more water damage. That has to be where the water is coming in because the car seems to be dry right now, and it's been raining all day here in Chicago. I just got my new wheels for my car and I was so excited, only to go in the car the very next day and find water on the inside, what a buzz kill. I hope it doesn't happen to yours, keep an eye on it. I'll post and let people know if I hear about a recall.

This is the fourth time I have something about this issue.

1. Do you park under trees? (Treesap or branch getting stuck)
2. Do you live in a really hot area?
3. Hit anything recently?

Hope everything turns out okay.

I don't park under trees, or live anywhere hot. I didn't know the sunroof can open when you shut the trunk, weird... The dealer called today and said the new motor for the sunroof is in, so I have to go there and have it put in. If worse comes to worse, the lemon law says that if I have to bring it in three times for the same problem, they have to give me a new car or my money back. I do love the car though. I got my new wheels on, painted my calipers blue, and replaced the front and back bulbs with blue ones. It looks so good! I'll post some pics soon.

The sunroof opens when you slam the truck because of the pressure in the car. should seat back down though. When we were doing the paperwork on my wifes eclipse last week, there was a lady there that was picking hers up and she said the same thing happened in her car. My father in law( a Mitsu service writer) said that the motor had weakenedand they had to replace it. all is great now. So maybe it is a weak motor... as for pics, you gotta post the pics of the stuff you did to the car!
