Thanks for that, a friend of mine also suggested the same. Shame that there is no mention of the locks/unlocks swicth for the door. The same mate who suggested the fix for the striker told me that it could be the switch that is the problem. I have yet to explore this. BTW whats the best way to pray the switch off the dash without damaging the dash???

Can I get you to check out how to remove/replace the radio/cassete decks and speakers please. I'm having it replace with a cd unit that can accept usb memory stick and the original speakers sound "tinny".

Mikal,
I got a phone call this morning from a mate who has replaced his water pump and is now trying to work out how to reset the timing belt. Befroe I leap in a and give him a hand, any chance of a copy of the page on timing? I am guessing the timing marks are lined up when the front cylinder is at TDC??

Hi!

Im backpackin around NZ with my girlfriend at the moment and we've bought a 1987 Mitsubishi Delica Starwagon. Recently after running low on fuel and topping up we've noticed the van chugging every now and then as we accelerate through the gears. I'm thinking the fuel filter might need cleaning/replacing but can't locate it. Would you mind sending me a diagram please?

Thank you so much!

Hi Xxxxxx, Try looking down below the carburettor to the longitudinal chassis rail which is also below the side of the battery box. On my van it is sitting in a spring clip on the rail side. Sorry no pic available. Alternatively follow the hose from the fuel pump (under the inlet manifold) down to the fuel filter. Hope this helps, regards Mike.

I too have head gasket problems.
Bought a van that supposedly had a full engine rebuild, but I'm not too happy with it.
Uses/Leaks oil, runs rough at times, & makes plenty of steam.
What part of Auckland are you in?
Would be good to compare notes on these motors.
What kind of fuel mileage are you getting?
We have LPG on our van, & it makes it a lot cheaper to run, but does drop the power a little.

Unfortunately my scanner is not relating with my new motherboard at present so I am unable to scan & send pages that I have not already saved to disc. However the wiring colour codes and wiring digram, Body Electrical, Engine Electrical, Cylinder Head, Engine Removal, Engine Oil Seals, Fuel System, and the section on engine timing are available on request. miris@orcon.net.nz

Just saw your post regarding the motor for Express, my husband saw an Express 4x4 in Perth hills, so he went in and asked the guy about it, as we are having problems with our van. The owner was more than happy to show him the motor, he put in a V6 Commodore motor 10 years ago (not sure what model) and has done 250,000 with out any problems. Don't know much about it other than that, but is possibly an option, as better fuel economy and power.
Apparently he had it done 'somewhere' used the Commodore motor and gearbox, just needed an adaptor plate.
Not sure if there is anywhere in NZ where you can ask about this.
