My 2002 Eclipse Center Display unit (radio/clock display on the center of the dash) is blank. The stock Infinity AM/FM/CD head unit still plays fine. It changes radio channels and CD tracks just as it should. Volume control is good too. I just can't tell what channel or track I am on without the center display. The center display unit also shows balance, fade, bass, and treble which do not seem to work even though the control button is on the radio head. So I am stuck with the current balance, fade, bass, and treble settings.

The dash lights work fine and the rheostat controls the light in the radio head like it should but the center display unit is blank - no backlighting with the dash lights on.

I took off the covers and was hoping for a loose plug, but no luck there. Everything was plugged in nice and secure on the display unit and the radio head. I even wiggled the wires on the amp under the passenger seat (thanks to this forum for telling me where to find it). All fuses in the drivers side box are good and I haven't noticed any other electrical problems.

I was thinking the LED or something got fried. But when I noticed the 3 light bulbs in the center display which should be a very simple circuit also not working I was wondering if I might have lost the ground.

Any one out there have experience with this?

I am satisfied with the factory system and don't want to go aftermarket. I spent too many years around jets to justify the cost for my tin ears.
I don't know the conditions when it failed - worked fine - teenage son drove it - next morning blank.

I am having the same issue with my 2003 Eclipse GTS. Were you ever able to resolve the problem, and if so what did you have to do. Thanks.

Still broken. I did some more trouble shooting of the wire bundles but they all check out fine so it must be in the center display unit or the Infinity control head. I haven't been motivated to go to a dealer and pay big bucks just yet. I was hoping that others had encountered this problem and there was a known fix. I can't believe we are the only two with the problem.

In any case, I was also hoping that since most of the guys in this forum are going aftermarket that they might offer up some unused stock equipment but no luck with that either.

Please let me know if you come up with a fix. Thanks!

I found the problem!! It turns out that it is associated with the cigarette lighter circuit. The 15Amp lighter fuse in the panel on the drivers side of the dash was burnt through. I don't smoke and don't charge my cell phone in the car. When my wife tried to charge her phone and it didn't work I did some checking and sure enough it was a simple fuse. Hope your fix is that easy!

Thanks for the help...I had the same problem. Stupid that neither the manual or the schematic on the fuse box tell you that the center display is linked to the lighter fuse!

So, it's just the fuse, huh? I have the same identical problem. I'm going out now to check it.

Just went out and replaced the 15 amp fuse and all is well. That was the trick. And they even provide four replacement fuses inside that panel on the drivers side dash. How nice! :)

I have a 03' Eclipse GT with the same problem, I checked my manual and it says there is a fuse just for that central display unit and I checked that fuse and it was fine. However I did notice there was no fuse in the spot for the armrest's outlet, not the cigarette lighter fuse, there was one for the cig lighter, but didn't check it since I thought it had nothing to do with it and I don't smoke or use either sockets for anything.. I'm going to go out there and check them both though, hope this works and thanks alot.

Sure enough it was the cigarette lighter fuse that was blown and now it's working just fine. Thanks alot.
