How many miles would Shogun Sport tyres expect to last?

Bridgestone Duellers
Normal driving etc...

±45 000. Obviously dependent on speed travelled, road surface, cornering, braking and accellerating, condition of shock absorbers....

REALLY?? :o

My rears already look like they are about 1/3 down compared to the spare after only 5k!

I've rotated them

spare ->ns rear -> ns front -> os Rear ->os front ->spare

to even out tyre wear (I will only be keeping the car for two years and I don't want to buy new tyres in that time)

SORRY! We're in the kilometre mindset in South-Africa. There is about 1,6 km /mile, therefore 45 000 km is about 30 000 miles. If you get less than 30k, you should be worried. Some guys claim that they get up to 40k MILES. I never see that type of milage on tyres. I guess driving conditions are important. I enjoy reasonable speed...

1/3 down after 5000 miles is quite bad. You should check your tyre pressure, camber/castor, shock absorbers, alignment, etc.

Remember not to rotate tyres from one side to the other. Rotate the front & rears on each side, but not from left ro right. Radial tyres must always turn/run in the same direction. Apparently it decreases tyre life and reliability of you turn them around. To rotate your spare in is therefore difficult - you will have to take it off the rim to rotate it in from left to right, and then the rotation direction of your "new" spare (the one rotated to spare) must be marked for future purposes... Sounds too much like hassles to me, so my spare stays on the backdoor!

Check this site for a comparison of tires (you'll see - you have the best):

Enjoy the ride!

The handbook that came with the car recommends three rotation patterns:

spare ->ns rear -> ns front -> os Rear ->os front ->spare

swapping front to rear , same side

swapping front to rear diagonally

:unsure:

That survey suprises me somewhat, I'll have to check which version of the dueller it is

Rotating left to right is OK with cross-ply tyres, but not with radials.

Please check with your local tyre supplier. Handbooks have the tendency to transfer old logic to new technology...

Enjoy the ride!
