ok I need help I was cleaning off my engine removed the heat shield from the exhaust manifold and found a crack which I heard was common for cast iron exhaust manifolds. Now I have searched far and wide and canot find a exhaust header for a 1.8L eclipse I dont think the 2.0L will fit I wish I did because there are a lot of options. My question is does anyone know if there is a aftermarket exhaust header for the 1.8L or should I just get a good junk-yard one or get a oem replacement? all help is greatly apreciated.

my 2.0 header cracked in 3 places, all i did was weld the cracks, but if your not a welder the best solution might be to get a junkyard one, but chances are that every other one is going to be cracked as well.

I am actually in college for welding and that was an option which I guess I will be doing now. I found a pretty good oem one for 94 bucks which isnt that bad but money is kinda tight for a while thanks to tuition so welding it seems to be the best option.

not sure if you know this or not but i will tell ya anyway. welding castings is alot different from welding mild steel. it requires a special type of rod with a high nickel content. it is also a good idea to let it cool down slowly by covering it with an insulator like dirt or floor dry. you should be able to pick up some cast iron welding rod from a local welding shop, or your college might have some.
