Hey, recently I had to get my car checked out for the thermostat (2001 mitsubishi galant). And after the mechanic got done with my car. I realized the my radio asked for a code. Could someone please help me find out how I can access this code. I know that I need the serial number but is there any other to go about getting this code. Are all codes the same for the model car? Please Help!!! I need my music :(

Same thing is happening to me. I had to take the dash off and the serial number for the radio is on the top front. With that number and the VIN of your car...call the dealership and they can give you the 4 digit access code.

Once you get the code...entering it seems to be a problem for some. Mine won't accept the code and I've tried calling several different dealerships to see if the initial code I was given might be the wrong one. It is not....yet the deck STILL won't accept it.

Also, you only have 3 tried...before the deck will go from CODE to OFF. If that happens, put your key in the ignition, turn it to the ON position and leave it sit for an hour. This will change to the prompt again....to CODE.

Hope you have better luck than me.... My access code just dosen't work...and now I have to buy a new deck. All because I changed the battery in my car. Stupid Inifinity stereos.

If you need any other assistance...just let me know. I've been researching and trying to fix my own for about 5 or 6 months now....

Thanks for the info. I already called the dealership and they told me that I would have to take my radio out and get the serial # and also the vin # of the car. Then they would have to call and get the code for me. But they also told me that I could bring it in to them, and they would do it for me. But they would charge me $35.00, just to take my radio out. I haven't had time to take my radio out yet. But I'm gonna try this weekend. Is it hard to do? I don't wanna damage anything.
