I've been noticing that my coolant level has been decreasing over the past 12 months. I keep adding coolant but unable to notice the leak, the leak seems to be a very slow one. I went to the dealer to replace the Oil sensor last week and mentioned that my coolant slowly leaks and he mentioned that it's a know issue with the clamps on the hoses. Has anyone had similar experience?

I'm having a similar problem with my Space Wagon and it appears to be the heater core. Check the carpets for moisture in the front passenger areas.

Another thing, when I first got the car it was leaking a small amount of anti-freeze, this was due to the lower radiator hose where it attached to the thermostat housing, I merely disconnected it and gave it a good clean, now it keeps dry. Hope that helps.

I haven't noticed either a leak or anything on the passenger side. I'll have to keep monitoring it some more, I haven't seen anything around the clamps as the dealer suggested.

My coolant levels started to drop while I was on holiday. Finaly traced it to the radiator core. It was difficult to find as it was behind the AirCon rad and only leaking very slowley. Needed the car on the road so I used some "Rad Weld" additive. Not the ideal solution but it's cured the leak, and should last until I can get a new rad (or the old rad reconditioned) next month.

I have the same problem. Pretty fast "draining" of the overflow tank but I have have not had any overheating issues yet. I've just started to troubleshoot and talk to techs so will update here. Others please do the same, thanks.

Hi. Over a year later update, went to local garage to redo brakes and he showed me the leak from the top coolant hose. Replaced the clamp but still leaking. Keep in mind very slow leak, should I replace the hose?

I'd replace it.

A new hose isn't expensive and is easy to fit. When my top hose let go, there was no warning.

May as well replace the bottom hose while your at it.

Phil :)

i had teh same thing happen, jsut fixed it yesterday.....follow the hoses that go to the heater inside thru the firewall back to the block.....there you will see a puddle of antifreeze sizzling on the block(if your car is warm/hot) ....mine was leaking out of the thermostat housing....it couldve also been the tube going to the thermostat.....take off the housing, resilicone the seals, cut a half inch off the rubber hose and get a new clamp....worked perfect for me =] hope that helped you out!

I had similar problem months ago. The leak was on the hose going in to the heater inside the car. The leak was only noted when the car was started from cold and while the coolant was getting hot.
The hose was moved when the dealer changed the transmission mount that is directly below it. Apparently the hose stayed in a position that the pressure of the coolant forced the leak through the clamp.

Hope this help.

I have a similar problem but it seems to be coming from the lower hoses after a new radiator install. Looks like 1 small hose , & a larger one. Facing the front of the car- The larger one is coming from the lower right same with the smaller one. They're both close to a crossmember. Anyone have techniques to remove the clamps? And if I remove them will there be coolant spilled?

here is an idea that i am pretty sure will work. take A/C leak test dye and put some in your cooling system. it shouldnt interupt the function of the system and later when the level goes down you can look with a black light for any leaks. its possible its going into your oil as well. no need to take apart hoses under the assumption the problem "may" be there
