[FONT=Courier]Hi I own a 1999 1.6 carisma and I'm finding tyhe gearbox difficult to engage in 1st gear and the other gears appear a bit sloppy, does anyone have any ideas on a fix or is it a known problem?? otherwise the car is great.
Is the gearbox a mitsubishi one it looks like the one used in the vauxhall cavaliers??

I can be contacted via this forum or kevthecop@hotmail.com

Regards Kev

Take it to mistubishi. I had this problem and apparently it was small nylon spacers that guide the gearstick into gear. supposedly very cheap. i had bought the car second-hand from a local dealer and so i didnt have to pay for the this so i cant give you a price for parts.

This seems to be a common thing with Carismas.

I was advised to get some gear linkage bushes (don't know if that's what Murdo is talking about or not).

I've just got another gearbox today as I blew mine!
