Hello everyone I just bought a 2006 Eclipse GT 6speed manual trans. And when I first got it I was impressed with the torque and stuff. And thought it would outrun just about anything out there but................. Now that I have had it for about a month it seems like its not all that great maybe i am just used to it I don't know. But considering the imports that are made today how do you feel it holds up...Like do you think the new 3.8 is a hard one to beat in todays time???

no, not that fast.

sorry.

especially in a time where EVOs, STIs, GTOs, etc etc are really pretty quick for a normal amount of money.

there are way too many cars out there that can do fast times stock.......but it runs with those cars out there just fine. It all comes down to modifications now-a-days and that will change how fast your car runs compared to others.
Some ppl will say that your car is too heavy, but that has its own advantages at high speeds and adding stability. There is the issue with the wheel gap, but that gives you better clearance and helps with sharp coners at high speed.
There are advantages and disadvantages to every car out there.....it is how much of that you can use and avoid that keeps you going faster than the competition.

All wheel gap does is allow for bigger tires/rims. Problem is, you put 20's on your car, and it's going to handle like horsecrap.

if you're able to shift well then the car can be very powerful. you just need to utilize its powerband, and launch correctly. wheel spin at take off is for showboating, not for getting the fastest times. DO NOT DUMP YOUR CLUTCH if you are.

I totally agree. Most people think that shifting at redline is the end of the powerband. After having dynoed tuned cars for school, I saw that the powerband on all cars is different and might not be the redline.
