This assumes that the Mitsubishi radio is a rebadged Pioneer product.
I do not promise this will work.

But it might be worth investigating.

Precision Interface Electronics PIO/P-RCA

Another option is to connect an FM Modulator in-line with your antenna. Not the greatest but much better than trying to use an FM transmitter.

FM Modulator

The radio is not a rebadged Pioneer Product. It's an Infinity product from their OEM division. That pioneer aux-in cable will not fit on the radio. The CD changer plug is round.

Did anyone succeed in creating the aux cable? What was the result of shorting BRXEN and VCC?

I'm going to be trying this soon (next few days). I got a $9.95 cable intended for a Kenwood head unit before finding this thread. The Kenwood cable doesn't work, but I've taken apart the connector and will re-wire it to match the Mitsu pinout.

This cable has three pins that are connected together with different resistors, presumably used to signal the Kenwood there's a changer present; let's call them pins 1, 2, and 3. 1-2 has a 10kOhm resistor in between, and 1-3 has a 3MOhm. I'm going to try connecting pin 1 to +12v, 2 to BRXEN, and 3 to ground. I'll report back and we'll see how it goes!

Also: the radio is made by Matsushita, part number MR587268.

Unfortunately, no luck :( Tried ACC to BRXEN with no success, and I also tried connecting several of the data interface pins together, on the theory that if one was generating a clock that could be used to fool it into thinking the changer was attached. Nothing on any of them.

I guess it's time for me to just buy an FM modulator, or a new head unit...

You know Mitsu has an iPod cable for stock head units if you so desire.

Actually, now that you mention it, I think I did read that somewhere (possibly even on this site) and forgot about it. Do you know where to get such a thing?

Yeah, it does exist... only problem is that you'll be flying blind as you will not be able to see the artist's name or the song's name. Sound quality will be there alright, but navigation will be useless, making the adapter useless.

Has someone found some kind of solution to alleviate this problem?

You should be able to see the artist's and song's name on Ipod. Also, the navigation won't be useless because the Lancer doesn't have it.

There is another adapter that should work. http://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/t22528-au...-great-news.htm

You plug it into the factory harness.

I have not seen it working in person, however I did contact someone selling one and was informed that the iPod's screen displayed a checkmark with 'OK to disconnect' in it.

That aux cable looks like what everyone in this thread has been looking for though. I'd like to take a look at those PDF's!

Thanks so much for sharing!
