I have just purchased a 1991 Pajero LWB 3.0 V6
It has a LPG conversion fitted 18mths. ago.
It ran ok down the motorway from the guy I bought it from. But after only 10 days i noticed a missing (judder). It also became obvious it was using huge amounts of fuel giving 5-8 MPG. I brought it to my local garage who serviced it, cahnged filters, plugs, oil and HT leads. But it still had a miss fire. Compression test revealed virtually no compression on no.5 pot. They stripped the head and found some weeping but no burnt or bent valves which was expected. The heads were skimmed and new gaskets fitted. A new cam belt fitted at the same time. Fired up fine and ran on all six. As it warmed up the miss fire stared again. It now only runs on three cylinders. Cannot find any known problem on the internet. Can anyone give advice? I feel very p***ed off  as before deciding on a large vehcle to buy because of easy access following a hip injury I dismissed Range & Landrovers as I read so many reports of serious trouble confining them to garages for months at a time. I read no such info on Mitsubishi, only praise.

One thought is that it could be an intermittant problem with the ECU unit which is used for engine management. I am a recent Pajero owner so I don't have allot of knowledge on this but I do know of similiar problems with other makes (Subaru, Holden, etc). Have a look at the attached website from a company which deals with these units. They have a good knowledge of what to check for and common problems with certain makes & years. Good luck and let me know what you find out.

and on a more basic level, I guess your garage would have checked for sparks at the plugs and whether petrol is getting to them, etc. Mechanics are suppose to know what makes a car tick and so, if they're confused, then maybe another garage with more ideas would be better..?
