Having you been using a good quality brand and keeping pressures right?how quickly are you actually going through them?

Is there any part of the tire that's wearing faster than others? I would guess that the dealer would be able to figure out the problem though if that was the case. Any more details you can give will help to problem solve.

What sort of surfaces are you driving on? Do you have the tracking and balance checked with every replacement? Very bendy roads with AWD won't help, either.

Maybe I'm unusually lucky, but my experience is rather the reverse - 49K miles over nearly two years on the same set from new. The recommended pressure (30 psi) seems low to me, but it seems to work!

I own an 03 Mitsu XLS too. I heard that because it is an AWD it is normal for the tires to wear out faster on the outside.

Was that the case or not, I'm sure I agraviated the issue in the last two Dever's winters I have been having too much fun on the snow by hitting the breaks hard and skidding. (no ABS).
This spring, concerned with my tire wear, went to have the wheels checked and they told me that my front struts where leaking badly so I had to have them replaced.

Happy driving every one,

RAF.

Raf_far.... Where hawe u heard this?? (I heard that because it is an AWD it is normal for the tires to wear out faster on the outside.) There is a big differens in awd and awd... A american 4wd with 100% locked front and rear axel wants to go strait when stering sharp..Like a truck with diffbrake on(100% at right and left tire).. When stearing it's chewing rubber and cost alot of fuel... But this is no problem with a outy due to its viscoclutch betwen front and rear axle.. On a outy there is 2 things that will wear out the front tires...1.. The all the time weight from the engine and 2.. Using the brakes .. +70% of brake energy is at the front axel..
This is the only thing that is NORMAL wear.. Anything else is unnormal and could be fixed...
http://www.google.com/search?q=camber+caster Plenty to read there.....

But thats not the only thing that can effect tires from wearing out... Sometimes the problem is between the stearingwheel and driwer seat.... Or just caused by hawing to low pressure in tires... Iam close to 40 psi 3,8 bar and moastly alone or with one pax.. And after 25000 km i can measure som diff at front inside wear propably due to fast cornering at citydrive... But this wear is like a fart in space..Nothing that could be seen without a instrument... And next summer i use front tires at rear axle to keep the diff in zize as low as possible..

Standard yokohama evolander all year (allround).. Looks like summertires but are marked with S-M.. But in the winter they are ewen worse than in the summer.. With cold winters like ours a better (softer) rubbercompound is needed.... So when i need new ones ill gett a 100% summertire and then use wintertires dec-apr... evolander skreames when cornering and does not hawe the "bite" when braking hard...
