you will quickly destroy your HIDs if left to be used as DRLs.
the car cycles the headlight circuit at 80 percent illumination for the DRLs... dropping the voltage to about 10.
that will fry your ballast.

Any help on how to disable the daytime running lights would be appreciated.

I don't understand why Mitsubishi didn't include a defeat switch like most other automakers do...

thanks

defeat switch for what? the DRLs?
probably because that would be idiotic. Why defeat a safety device?

its a safety device yes but some people do not like having them on to begin with. also being military coming on to a base you are supose to turn your lights off so you dont mess up the guards night vision. if i could find a way i would disable mine as well cause i dont care for them.

I totally agree. Having a governor on the engine limiting top speed to 55 mph would also be a 'safety device', but I doubt anyone would buy it! You should be able to choose whether or not to have your lights on during the day.

I saw a post stating you could disengage the relay for the DRL's, but I'm not sure which one it is. Anyone have any info on this?

thanks

there is quite a difference in a simplistic safety device such as lights, and the complete inability to drive your car.

no, DRLs are there for a good reason. the fact is that they do exactly what theyre designed to do, and shutting them off has no benefit. you cant see them inside the car, so what difference does it make?

hey guys to all of you who are installing HID and have problems with the drl I have a solution. just put a relay which is powered directly from the battery, but is trgired by the headlights swithc(i mean the main headlights wires). this way you will keep your drl (working at 100%) and the ballasts of the hid save

No I can't see mine when I'm inside the car, but my eyes are very sensitive to light so other peoples daytime running lights make it difficult for me to see when cars are coming at me... As far as I'm concerned, all the drl's do is cause an extra glare that I don't need...

and as for safety, if people would actually LOOK before they pull out onto the road, cars wouldn't need drl's to make them "safer"...
