Hey... I got a small tapping sounds comming from my engine at idle but when i rev or accelerate the engine. it gets louder and faster. I have not drivin my car for a few days and was wondering if anyone knew what it might be? People have suggested a Valve Tap... im not exactly sure what it is.

the tapping noise is the oil lifters, you can hear it on all 3000GTs except for the 98's models. its nothing to worry about.[B]

the tapping sound from the heads is typically the lash adjusters filling with gunk, and not letting as much oil by as normal, or getting full of air after sitting for a long time.

try running it a bit more if you just took it out of storage, or try changing the oil over to some synthetic with better detergents in it.

exact same thing happened to me....
its definetely the oil...
check to see if u have enough oil.
and u probably have to change the oil too.

Give her an oil and filter change .. definately will help your situation .. if your oil is thined out to the max because its not been changed for ages that certainly wont help with your oil pressure either .. just changed mine and it oooo so better .. still likes a tap in traffic now and again, but nothing like it was...

as 3000gt says though.. its a common thing ...

just dont rev it hard till sound stops as you can score the cams when they are dry.
