Looks like your problem is regarding the solenoid valve in the valve body. Usually the first thing to do is to test all solenoid to see whether they are working or not. To do this ... you have to find the valve body connector ... then short it to +ve. Then hear the 'click' solenoid operation sound. It should be obvious enough to hear that. If the all solenoid is working find ... then we just go to another troubleshooting method. All i'm telling you now is in general for 4 solenoids valve body system tranny such as F4A22. But the testing method is the same. Check whether your tranny is same as i mentioned here. As for solenoid valve B malfunction ... sometimes is caused by earth/ground wire that attached to the engine is not conducting current. This problem is usually caused by bad connector, open ground circuit or bad grounding/body ground. This is common on Galant (4G63). The symptom for low grounding - unstable RPM ,Temp gauge, lamp brightness. I once encounter with this problem ... showing the fkn sign that so frustrating .. that the TEMP GAUGE will keep rising if you keep on pumping your brake pedal!!!
May I know ... if you are not familiar with Mitsubishi cars, then which type of car that you familiar with? So that we can exchange our knowledge/ experience. I'm so sucks with European cars!
