Quick queston, if i bought an engine for a swap i want to do. Say from a mirage 1.5 to a Evo 2.4, would i NEED the ECU and tranny from that exact Evo? or can i get like an aftermarket ECU or something in place of the ECU i didnt get?

You would need the ECU from the EVO. The tranny wouldn't be bad either because it's designed to handle that engine, plus I don't know what tranny (other than the EVO tranny) would bolt up to that engine.

Engine swaps are a pain in the a$$ most of the time. You'll need the engine, tranny, ECU and wire harness. Getting it to fit under the hood and adapted to the driveline will be your next challenge.

Good luck.

I'd imagine that AEM, or another similar stand alone engine management system will run the EVO engine, because those are so popular.

You could go that route.

You only other option would be to TRY and re-wire the sensors to your exsisting ECU, but you will need to make sure they read the same thing, the same way, with the same signal. and then, you'll need something like a piggy back to try and re-tune the original ECU around a new engine, which would suck large amounts of ... you know.

I'd go with a EVO ECU or find a stand alone (which will probably be the more expensive route.)
