I know my way around cars, but i see the locations of the timing belt and i see it kind of dificult. Should i have it fixed for 80 bucks or should i try to do it myself. If sohas anyone here ever done this on a 1.8 SOHC 4g37, can u give me any hints or steps including the belt diagram.

just buy the haynes manual for your car it has complete diagrams and all the desciptions to time it right. just make sure your engine is top dead center and your oil pump sprocket is on the timing mark, then the head is pretty simple. not to say the same on dual cams though.

well, if the engine is out already, id say do it yourself. but if the engine is still sitting in the car and they are only charging you 80$, you should take it to the shop.

if they only charge 80$s that would scare me (only cuz i got a good deal off a guy that my dad knew ) that good deal ended up costing me another 4-5 hundred dollars when he jumped a tooth blew the o2 sensor and then for somereason i was having really low oil pressure for quite awhile but it finally worked itsself out also he put chips in my harmonic balancer that was a 300$ install and i had to have the belt reinstalled because it jumped off. not to mention alot of problems turned out and things started leaking everywhere im still not sure if those are coincedence or not but so yea i'd make sure whoever you take it to has done one or 2 of them. (bear in mind tho this was on a 2g 2.0l DOHC so it's a little different but mainly just warning you you get what you pay for.)
