So I got a funny story here. I hate my car. Yes, I talk about it like it I like it and all but in all actuality there are so many reasons I hate it. Slow isn't even one of them. It has beige interior, is auto (I bought it 6 months before I learned to drive stick) and has like NO options other than power windows/locks/mirrors. No cruise, nada. Well, I work for a Nissan dealer where we had a pretty sweet/sleeper '99 Sentra SE 5-speed come in. The reason it's a sleeper is because it has the SR20DE engine (the non-turbo version of the SR20DET used in the Silvia in Japan) and it has a sunroof, factory bronze alloys, etc. I had to do the used car inspection, replaced the things that needed attention, and with 90K miles, the car is SOLID. Anywho, I was thinking of buying it and trading in my Lancer (actually I didn't think I almost did it) and I saw the value of my car. 2003 ES with 31K miles (look on my garage page for pics/specs), I owe $8000 and it's only worth $6,500. The Honda dealer I worked at only would give me $5,000. I always thought this was crap until I learned why: Chase and many other financial institutions will NOT finance used Mitsus. Reason being: They fear in the next few years or so that Mitsu will be going out of business. I guess the sales of the new Eclipse aren't as high as expected, at least that's what our Chase rep. says. I just thought you guys might like to know what a non-Mitsu dealer says about it.

QUOTE I'd throw a for sale sign on your ride and get the Nissan. Isn't the Nissan SR20 motor "polo premium" (yes I'm making fun of Fast and Furious). Yes, it is, along with the VQ35 V6. But quite honestly, I want something REALLY nice when I pay my car off. I have even thought about an Altima SE-R (VQ35) or something like that. I want something I do a FEW things to and leave it at that for an everyday car. I plan on buying a toy when I move out, but until then, it's the Lancer. QUOTE I'm driving my car until the wheels fall off. Take it to Discount Tire, that'll happen sooner than you think.

QUOTE(mfalik @ Aug 24 2006, 08:15 AM) I check my lug tightness a lot because that last thing I need is to see one of my BBS's rolling down the road while I'm driving.
I can't wait to get a toy car, but that won't happen for quite a few years, I have a Jeep in my garage on blocks waiting for some restoration work.
The Lancer works for me, afterall it's just a commuter car. If I want to drive fun cars I just go to my parents' house and steal the dad's porsche or jag.

Well I can't do that since my dad drives an Intrepid  I also miss working at BMW/Mini, because I drove fast cars all the time. When I was at Honda, they acted like the S2000's were gold. My response to my service manager was, simply, "It's no Z8, so no worries." Nissan's a little different, they treat every car like gold but won't yell at you like Honda did.
