my 4wd unit on shogun sport was found behind the panel at the right hand side of the pedals ( right hand drive ). What i did before i changed this was to make sure everything else was working as it should. First i found one of my solonoids was faulty and replaced it. This did not stop the 4wd light flashing, to make sure my vacuum system and solonoids were working i swapped the two pipes over on the front of the solonoids then when in 2wd the light went out, this shows that you are getting vacuum and that your actuator on the front axle is working it doesnt mean the solonoids are working you may need to remove them and test with a 12v battery you will here a distinct click from the solonoid when connected to a battery if it is opening. when you have proved that your solonoids work then swap over the pipes on the front of the solonoids ( leave the pipes that go to top of one and bottom of other ) when swapped start and run engine for a short while to build up vacuum your 4wd light should now go out in 2wd and flash in 4wd. If all this is happening as explained then and only then should you suspect the 4wd unit. When i got to this stage i put a test meter on the plugs to my solonoids and got a 12v reading at first i couldnt see why my solonoids werent opening but there was not enough current to operate them, then i went to the 4wd unit pulled the plug of it and with the test meter identified the 12v supply to the 4wd unit and linked it to the 12v feed for the solnoids ( this was easily identified because of colour ) you can now check to see if the solonoids are operating by going from 2wd to 4wd and back several times and listening to the solonoids you will need someone to assist you for this. I did all this and one by one eliminated possible faults, Mine was a faulty 4wd unit you may find something else before you get that far. Hope this helps!
