Hello all.
i'd like to firstly thank conanofcimmeria for his reply to my last posting, all points you advised on had either been checked or have been logged in my brain (hopefully for future ref:) thanks again for your valued input.
I'm pleased to inform member's that the problems are sorted, i put the problems in the hands of a very good auto electrician & he was worth every penny, it took him about one & a half hours to find the cause, i'd been trying for fourteen days without success. for anyone interested for future referance it was a wire that had corroded & snapped, the plug that fits into the side of thye alternator has a white with red tracer wire, this is the ignition supply to the alternator, it goes into the loom, round the back of the engine into the air filter compartment in the direction of the heater plug relay to a multi plug, the corrosion was there. without this supply voltage to the alternator the control unit thinks your battery needs charging.
the other wire in the plug on the side of the alt: is the supply feed to your warning light circuit & the two large wires bolted together neer the front of the alt: are the feed out to the battery.
