Ok, so I made the comment about Mitsus coming into dealers and credit unions not wanting to finance the used ones, right? A few people scoffed when I told them that. Well, I just heard on the news tonight that their Normal, IL plant is asking workers to VOLUNTARILY take a $4/hour paycut to reduce the bleeding. This comes after a year or two ago that Daimler/Chrysler pulled all investments out of the company but still uses it's platforms.

I like Mitsu to a point, but safe to say that in the coming years it is going to become extinct? I would seriously have thought about a new Eclipse in the next few years but...I don't know about that now.

I think most of mitsubishi's problems stem from the U.S. The whole organisation seems to be a little out of touch with whats going on.Take the raider for example, a complete disaster.Yet around the rest of the world where mitsu offer the L200 its in top of its class and sells well. Mitsu U.S should take a different direction and try selling something smaller.Something like a 1.5 turbo colt pushing out 150bhp and still being relatively fuel efficient would sell well right now,

Yea, the US auto industry in general is screwed up to begin with. People think they need big vehicles that guzzle gas. We piss and moan about gas prices as we are filling up our Yukons, and Expeditions. I've been to England a couple times and things are a little better organized. Everyone is driving smaller cars that get a lot better gas mileage when compared to our smaller cars. The gas prices over there were over $4 a gallon back in 1999. Vauxhall (England's GM division) made a car that looks just like a Catera (probably the same platform) and it ran on a diesel. It was so quiet and peppy that I didn't know it was a diesel until someone told me. So why can't GM get their $hit together over hear?

Take the US Outlander. I test drove an 06 and was very impressed. It's very roomy, quiet ride, decent gas mileage (2.4L mivec only), etc etc. Well, the 07 was redesigned to be bigger (closer to a Montero size): 7 person seating, overall larger exterior dimensions and a V6 engine only. I would've bought an 06 but financially it's not in the cards. I won't buy an 07 because I don't need something bigger.

I read a review of the Colt Turbo R or whatever it was. If we had smaller sub-compacts here, I'd be first in line.
