I own a 2g GS-T that I was hoping to do performance modifications on it. Well, yesterday i spoke to my wife about these expectations she wants to take a different approach.... Hse wants to 'Rice' the car so that it'll look good on the outside and have nothing done on the inside, performance wise. Since ultimatly it's her car.... can anyone please help me find a way to 'persuade' my wife into not taking this route? Any suggestions will help. Thank you.

Well It IS a GS-T. at least it is Turbo..... but you could tell her that a New Intake and Exhast would improve Gas Milage. don't ever say "performance" think of ways certian Mods will make "Daily Driving" Easier and More Enjoyable FOR HER not you..... She'll Know You just want Speed. its a guy thing.. :57: But Make Sure you do include these Ricer Mods so she doesn't get Suspisious. :57:

go to a chevy dealership ... ask to test drive a corvette with her and not the salesman (they do this on occasion) ... take her to back road haul a$$ and if she still doesn't want to do performance parts sell it to me for mine that's ricey but not an awd turbo lol.

She's really not into the Turbo in the car... I mean, everytime I spool up and boost in the car, she looks at me like <_< and I have to slow down before she kicks the $hit out of me. A non-turbo Eclipse is maybe what she needs, but I cant get rid of this one just yet. I got it off a guy that overpriced me and have a loan for it of $8G's still. No one in thier right mind would buy a 96 GS-T for $8G's... I would sell it to you and swap, but would you, or anyone pay for it?

lol. You'd be amazed what a PR can do to you. It's her 'dream car' even though she has no clue the potential this car can do. It's partly my fault though....

A friend of mine asked me: "What direction are you going with to modify your eclipse? Drag? Rally? Show car? What?" and I gave him this look:  "I...dont...know...." When I brought it up to my wife, The ultimate owner, she's said "It's much cheaper to 'rice' it up than to modify it..."

I personally dont see myself racing at sporting events, maybe b/c I havent seen one other than illegal street races. I think what I need to do is show her what a modded eclipse looks like when you put effort into it.

personally i think performance is cheaper then working on the body and looks of the car.

Body parts like bummper, fenders, headlights, and others by the end of buying all those parts will be a lot of money. If and only if, you want quality parts from name brand company Vs. unkown brand that may not fit right or braking easily. Also going to a body shop thats does a good work on painting your car.

So to me performance is cheaper then of looks and body parts. Putting performance parts is a lot easyer and if you have time on the weekend.

find a cheap RS that looks just like her GST and buy it. that's the best solution. You'll end up with a few debts but you'll have a bad **** car and she wont be on your back about what ever you do to YOUR CAR

Hey guys! I spoke to her a couple days ago and she reconsidered.... under certain conditions of course... She would let me mod it up only if I take it to the race course and not race against ppl in the streets/highways. I agreed to 'take my foot off the pedal' and race officially. On the other hand, she still wants to place a body kit, fenders and give it a solid paint job. I agreed as long as the body kits and fenders are placed when the paint job is ready to be applied. not before.

 Well, My next question is gonna be.... where should I start? I want a well balanced car. A strong horsepower car with a tranny that can withstand the power. With that being said, what can I start on w/o tearing apart the engine?

Well Now that you have been allowed to mod the car..... still Intake and Exhast is the easiest way to increase HP.

Alright. I'll work on the intake and exaust Mannifolds before anything else. Will this Increase in HP cause any damage to a 121000 mile engine? I dont want to do an increase that'll do damage to a worn out engine....

Perfect! I thought the T-Belt needed a little work. would a OE belt do fine, or do they sell a performance one? Also, I didnt know about the Water Pump. Is there a reason why? And again, Would OE do fine?
