hey guys

i have a l300 cyclone 2.4 4G64 now im having a few probs, firstly the motor has done around 350,000 km and is ticking, light smoke from exhaust.temp on dash hardly moves at all as well.the plugs are black and dry, uses a bit of oil as well other wise she pulls well through all the gears. sitting at 100km/h it sits at 3600rpm and i don't get manny k's to a tank of gas a friend has told me that the valve stem seals need doing but i am un shore of this,
can any one help me as what to do here

Good test to prove the valve stems are tired is to pump the throttle hard and let the revs up to say 4k.
Let the throttle go and see if you get more smoke out the exhaust as the engine runs down.
Pays to have the engine warmed up

Basically as the engine runs down it wants to suck air in but the throttle is closed, causes a vacumm. If the valve stems are worn the oil will get sucked into the cylinder instead.
