Hello,

I just wanted some advice on buying an FTO. I am 24 and interested in buying a GR version or possibly a GPX depending on insurance. Im unsure about what gears to go for i have heard mixed reports about the Tip models some advice pls. Also what age should i go for i was thinking around 97 because i have read that earlier models dont have abs plus some other things. Also what tend to be the major problems with them breaking down? and are they difficult and expensive to fix and get parts.

Any help would be great

Many Thanks

Dave

living in somerset I have had the pleasure of trying both manual imports and the uk tiptronic.no contest for performance the manual is very sweet.if your a cruiser you may like the tiptronic but on a performance and acceleration scale the manual is far better.the one I get to work on is lady driven but she has assured me she passes in 3rd gear at 100mph(I have tested this once to prove it!)autoboxes can be expensive if they are driven hard although the shogun tiptronic is superb with the 3.2did.they are relatively cheap to find as well.there are at least 2 locally for sale and we even have an n reg tiptronic in part exchange at work(although it may not be for sale)
the manuals are harder to find but worth it in my opinion
as for parts and repair costs I find they are both reasonable compared to other mitsi ranges.best rule of thumb is: If you look after them, they will look after you
