QUOTE(fullmoon @ Sep 19 2006, 10:29 AM) Built prision tuff!!! And for those that don't understand what I mean Honda used inmates at one while ,I don't know if they still do but they did according to XM Radio 169. Haha. I don't know who they used, but on the B series, the K series, and some of the other engines, they did something right. At least, if there's a guy with a Lotus Elise who takes the Toyota turboed engine out to replace it with a supercharged K20, then you have to know it's a good engine.

I hate to shatter all your hopes and dreams, but Elises are not turbocharged. They are given the same 1.9L VVT-i engine found in many Toyotas and Chevrolet cars and sedans. That engine produces 190bhp. In a car that weighs as little as Lotus' Elise or Exige, that is ample power and produces very fast acceleration. I have seen crate engine K20's supercharged to produce over 300bhp. The biggest advantage there is that the K20 is small and cheap, and when it is coupled with the supercharger, it produces respectably large power numbers for very little money

However, it's not a 1.9L either. It's the 1.8L 2ZZ from the Celica, Matrix, Pontiac Vibe, and I don't think any other Chevrolet cars. The K20A isn't too cheap, especially not the JDM version that was dropped into this Elise. The main reason they used this engine and blower instead of turboing the 2ZZ like they wanted is the same reason they were careful about turboing the 1ZZ (same block, non VVTi from the MR Spyder and base GT Celica, as opposed to the GT-S) is it is very fragile with boost and can't handle it well. The K20, even with stock internals, can handle boost very well and revs very fast.
