Okay. So the stats are all there. The most HP a 4 cyl camaro ever made was a whopping 92hp. The highest gear ratio ever put in, was a 3.73.
Now assuming that your buddy has the best that Chevy made, An eclipse makes 140hp, 48 more than the chevy! Also the eclipse is equipped with a 3.93 gear ratio, so its gonna get up to speed way quicker. Not to mention, the eclipse is incredibly lighter, as already mentioned.
So, the only way your buddy would win a race, is if
a. you miss a shift. (or other driver error)
or
b. something broke.
