Ok, My friend won't shut up about thinking he can beat me in his 4 cylinder POS Camaro. NO MODS. I drive an eclipse RS with cat back exhaust, spark plugs and wires and a K and N filter. ( barely anything). I beat him in the middle of day at a light the slopes uphill. He even got a better start than i did because i had to keep my foot on the brake so i wouldn't hit the guy parked behind me. the road also turned left and i had the outside. I BEAT HIM BY 5 FEET and to this day he thinks he can beat me.

They don't come in 4 bangers 6 yes 4 no and it's his weight that's holding him back.
He can easly install a supercharger and kick you to the curb!
Word to the wise be cool before he does...

okay. heres the stats on the 4cyl camaros.

http://www.f-body.org/tech/tech.htm#ThirdGen

Rear Axle Ratio
Yr Modl Tran. Engine CR Disp. HP Torque In- Manual Automatic
code/type duct. std. opt. std. opt.
----------------------------------------------------------------(G92)------(G92)

82 SC M4,A3 LQ8*L4 8.2:1 2.5 (151) 90@4000 132@2800 2V 3.42 ---- 2.93 3.08

86 SC M5 LQ9*L4 9.0:1 2.5 (151) 88@4400 130@2800 TBI 3.73 ---- ---- ----

Okay. So the stats are all there. The most HP a 4 cyl camaro ever made was a whopping 92hp. The highest gear ratio ever put in, was a 3.73.

Now assuming that your buddy has the best that Chevy made, An eclipse makes 140hp, 48 more than the chevy! Also the eclipse is equipped with a 3.93 gear ratio, so its gonna get up to speed way quicker. Not to mention, the eclipse is incredibly lighter, as already mentioned.

So, the only way your buddy would win a race, is if

a. you miss a shift. (or other driver error)
or
b. something broke.

you mean the 5.0l v8 with only 175hp right? those things dont even count as mustangs.

a z28 camaro is way more than powerful enough to destroy an eclipse. My dads mach 1 can destroy my 1g GST

They did at one point in the 80's put the Quad Four in the Camaro.

What year is his RS? From '93-'95 GM used the 3.4L V6 in the base Camaro (approx. 171HP) and from '96-'03 they used the infamous 3800 V6. Trust me, both blow horribly. GM can't make a V6 to save their lives, they all eat gaskets. At least the 4.3L is a 350 minus 2 cylinders.
